“Always comfortable”
Reviewed 12 August 2014

Have this hotel several times. It is awkward to get to but it is very reasonable and friendly. Nice touch with the warm cookies in the lobby in the evening when we got there, this time. Rooms are quite comfortable and private, which is what I want from a hotel - not alot of noise to be heard from outside the room . Even the rock view from the window on the main floor was nice. lol

I would highly recommend this hotel for families but it is also great for all others (singles, couples, etc.).

ROOMS - very nicely appointed and rooms are large and accommodating. Carpet, furniture, beds, etc. were all great quality.

STAFF - always friendly and helpful.

BREAKFAST - included items such as toast, breads, muffins, yoghurt, waffles, fruit, eggs, meat (sausage, bacon, etc) and hot oatmeal (not packaged). The included breakfast is fantastic especially for families since you don't have to think about where to go, get ready, get a seat, order, etc. Saves so much time! The only things I would say about the breakfast are: (1) Fruit - there are fruit baskets available throughout the day in the lobby however, the fruit served at breakfast tastes funny (artificial). Basically tastes like it came out of a can rather than fresh cut; (2) Eggs - one day when scrambled eggs were served, they also tasted weird and the texture was off - kind of like gelatin was added to it.

Water, Coffee, Hot Water, Tea, etc. - are always available in the lobby throughout the day. This was great because we didn't have to worry about buying water. We would just fill up our water bottles in the morning before leaving the hotel. The hot water was great as well to help heat up the milk for our baby.

The only main gripe and this is no fault of the hotel (except where they chose to locate) is that getting to the hotel going North on McNight is a hassle as is wanted to go North on McNight from the hotel since there is a center median that separates the North/Southbound traffic and you cannot turn directly into the hotel going Northbound. Outside of that, the hotel is very close to downtown and parking is free as well. I would highly recommend this hotel over staying downtown due to the proximity.

The hotel is located with easy access to all areas of the city. The rooms were very modern and well maintained. The staff truly the best. Breakfast was very good and the menu changed daily. When I go back to Pittsburgh I will stay here again.

This is an older hotel so therefore the dank smell is basically what you first experience when you walk in. The staff was nice and cordial. The room was a nice size. There was a refrigerator available but no microwave. The bathroom was surprisingly large compared to some other places that we've stayed. The exercise room was nice as well. I do recommend this for a short stay. The Wifi worked well also. Ms. Vanessa made an enticing and very well done breakfast. I only wish people would remember to tip those that take the time to make sure that there is plenty of breakfast foods.

Room Tip: if you use a service like Priceline, hotels.com, etc., be sure and call the hotel as soon as your ro...

My stay at the Hampton Inn, as always, was very enjoyable. The beds are very comfortable and the rooms are inviting. I always stay at the Hampton when I visit my family. My Grandson loves to come and use the pool and I enjoy the hot tub. The staff is friendly and helpful. Ginger, who coordinates, the breakfast is always smiling and welcoming. The breakfast has improved over time. The entire experience is always enjoyable.
