This hotel uses new technology which requires an additional room key be inserted into an outlet near the door to run the lights and air. The room was quite warm on check - in. I set the temperature to 70 degrees and warm air came out of the vents. Called the front desk. They told me to set the fan at maximum and the temp to 60 degrees to make it cooler. It worked, but I find it much different than most hotels. The phone set in the room was also a little confusing in contacting the front desk. No other problems. Good location downtown. Very comfortable beds with plenty of pillows.

On the ongoing saga of the indistinguishable American hotel room, this Westin feels like any tired HILTON or bold Marriott you've been to. Same carpet, same bathroom fixtures, same insipid breakfast. Service is nice, beds are squishy. I hope there's a better place to spend a night in this town.

While there are no serious complaints about a two-night stay here, there are few things to commend it to anyone not attending a convention in the area. My room was spacious, bed was comfortable, but temperature control was difficult: had to set the thermostat down to 65 during the day and early evening in order to work in room, due to warm and humid air, only to wake up cold late at night. Elevators were slow, internet access was free, but intermittent and spotty, but staff were friendly and helpful, which was appreciated.

Food service was unremarkable: lunch and banquet dinner were standard hotel fare: options for continental breakfast were all excessively sweet: I recommend a short walk of a block or two to Bruegger's Bagel or Subway for a quick, healthy, non-sweet, inexpensive breakfast with protein, Catered receptions were of higher quality than served meals.

Room Tip: My room was quiet, despite close proximity to elevator. Temperature was hard to regulate, however, i...

Underwhelming. Dirty. Dated. 3 words to accurately describe my recent stay at the Westin in Downtown Pittsburgh. The best thing this hotel has going for it is its location near the Convention Center. It's also within a 15 minute walk to the Consol Energy Center.

As for the room, it was clear it hadn't been sufficiently cleaned or occupied in quite a while. There was dust all over the furniture, alarm clock, and telephone. Crumbs and other pieces of food were scattered around the floor. There were stains on the bed linens, the floor and on the walls. The bathroom mirror hadn't been cleaned in some time. Lots of mold in and around the shower. The beds were sagging and uncomfortable. No excuse for all this in a hotel that's supposedly rated 4 stars.

Once the hotel's gift shop closes for the evening, it's rather difficult to buy a beverage or a snack unless you use room service. The few vending machines I was directed to were out of service. Even the convenience store across the street from the hotel closes early, leaving not many options for visitors. It really shouldn't be this hard to buy a soft drink and snack in Downtown Pittsburgh at night.

This was the second time I've stayed at this hotel and the first wasn't much better. All in all, there are better hotel options nearby. No surprise it's rated so poorly on TripAdvisor.

Thank you for taking the time to tell us about your recent stay. We are incredibly sorry and disappointed to hear about your experience. There is no excuse for what you encountered in our guest rooms and we want you to know that what you experienced is not typical of our hotel. Our housekeeping department works very hard to make sure all rooms are impeccably clean and we are so very sorry if we missed the mark . We want you to know that we have been listening to our guest comments and we will be enhancing a large part of our hotel over the next year. Our Director of Operations will be reaching out to you privately so that we can gather more information to make sure this does not happen again. We hope to have the opportunity to provide you with the service and satisfaction that you deserve in the future.

The hotel staff was amazing with helping everyone during our hectic time of Furries Overload for Anthrocon this year. We had over 5,000 people, and most said they enjoyed there stay here! Especially the fursuiters, so it was nice and close before overheating.

Room Tip: Try to get in the first 10 floors, then you can always take the stairs if you're waiting too lon...

I did not sleep over and "stay" inside a room at this hotel, however, I spent many, many hours inside this hotel for a convention I went too,

From the time I spent inside this hotel for the convention, I really enjoyed it.

The outside of the hotel is impressive. Very nice kept up look. There was a bar/sushi place down on the first floor we went to and enjoyed very much.

I went inside the conference/ball rooms for the convention, and they where kept up very clean.

I spent around 5 days going inside it for the convention and had no issues. The glass walk way into the David convention center was nice as well.

I've now stayed at this hotel three times and have yet to have a bad experience. The staff is friendly and I have no complaints about the rooms. Additionally, it is located within walking distance of a number of local restaurants as well as the convention center itself (also accessible by sky bridge from the Westin's second floor). I'd definitely recommend it to other travelers.
