“Luxury and Location In Iron City”
Reviewed 20 January 2014

We enjoyed an excellent stay at Fairmont Pittsburgh, conveniently located in the center of the city's business, theater and retail hub. We were in town mainly for an important game between the contending division rivals Pirates and Cardinals. The Fairmont’s location couldn’t have been more convenient as PNC Park is just across the Roberto Clemente Bridge, a mere five minute walk away. Also located just across the river, a block or two from PNC Park, is the (recommended) Andy Warhol Museum. The hotel is also close to Market Square with an array of dining options, from fine to fast. The staff at Fairmont were superb; pleasant, professional and helpful. We requested a room on an upper floor overlooking PNC Park and Heinz Field and the hotel obliged. The views of the PNC, Heinz and downtown were spectacular! The room was spacious, well-appointed with stylish modern decor and a very comfy firm bed. It was a busy weekend in town and the hotel seemed quite full, yet there was peace and quiet in the corridors and room. The guest services and amenities were excellent; we especially appreciated the large and well-equipped gym. Andy’s bar off the rear lobby was jumping with a jazz band on Friday night. We enjoyed a very complete breakfast at Habitat, the hotel’s on-site restaurant. It had been many years since we last visited Pittsburgh; a stay at Fairmont was a proper re-introduction. We would certainly return to the Fairmont on a future visit to Pittsburgh. This hotel is a first-class luxury stay conveniently in the center of it all.

Room Tip: We really liked the high floor view of PNC Park. You might get lucky and see a post-game fireworks...

So, I think we got upgraded for our stay, and I'd recommend a room on the higher floors if you get a chance. We had a nice view of the city, the room was nice, and the bathroom was huge, with a separate shower and bathtub and sink with plenty of counter space. The hotel staff was very helpful, and even though there seemed to be a problem finding our reservation at check in, the front desk handled it and checked us in quickly and dealt with the third party booker I used to find our reservation and payment. It is in a great location in the city, and there a little Christmas market nearby when we stayed which added to the trip. Would highly recommend.

Warm doorman greeting even though I was pushing my own bag. Welcoming front desk staff. Beautiful room with an extremely comfortable bed, desk facilities. Large bathroom. An accurate thermostat. Comfortable, warm decor. Coffeemaker. Hot coffee, scrambled eggs, toast, bacon from room service in the morning.

A delightful experience. I could ask for one thing: a removable shower head.

Well done. I'll be back, even without my shower head !

Green Features: First class eco and environmentally friendly hotel with signs in the room pointing out their compliance. Good job.

We often pass by Pittsburgh on the way to visiting family out east. This time we decided to stop and we are glad we did. All of the people at the Fairmont were extremely friendly, starting with the lady I talked to for making reservations. Most pet friendly hotels in downtown areas want the pet to weight 25 or 50 pounds or less. There was no limitation at the Fairmont. Everyone made a big fuss over our yellow lab. He even got introduced to the audience by the band that was playing in the lobby. The room was spectacular and very quiet. The only trouble we had was finding the place. The sign out front was small and it was difficult getting set up to come in the right direction on the one way Market St. Once there, the bell people were efficient and helpful getting us unpacked. All and all a great experience.

Room Tip: We had a view of the river and the baseball field. The rooms with the view of Mount Washington are...

One of the best business hotels I have ever stayed at in the US. Stylish, great room, very nice bath room. Very friendly personnel. And a lot of restaurants and breakfast place in walking distance. I would certainly stay here again, but simply don't travel to Pittsburgh often. Not much more to say, but Tripadvisor wants to see 200 characters......

My boyfriend and I decided to book this place for a nice romantic stay away for the weekend. The staff here was all very nice and helpful (especially all valet staff). However, I am mid 20's my boyfriend 30 and this place had mostly older adults staying here. We did not realize there was not as much to do in this area at late night. We went back to our hotel one evening after exploring and there was a jazz type band playing in the lobby with a lady singing who seemed to be in her 70's. If you're into this type of music it was great but seemed more for an older crowd. The hotel was pretty nice but not sure that I would pay $300 a night again to stay here. We had a King deluxe room overlooking the mt washington which was a great view but the room was nothing exceptional. It did have a mini bar but one small "airplane" sized bottle of liquor was $9 added to your room bill and a small box of m&ms was $9. If you're looking for a nice relaxing atmosphere this is a nice place but if you're going to a steelers game and want the experience of the game i would stay across the bridge near the field. We would stay here again just for the quietness but next time we go to a game we will definitely stay near the field.

This is a modern styled Fairmont, unlike their classic styled hotels. Rooms are attractive and up-to-date (seems new). My issues were the bathroom and towels. There is a sliding "barn" door on the bathroom which provides some sight privacy, but allows noise back into the room. The toilet is not is a separate room, just blocked off by an open wall. There is a single sink and small counter area. What could they have been thinking with this layout in a luxury hotel? We were given three towels each day. I'm sure we could have received more with a call to housekeeping, but again, why select the number "three" towels for two people? A separate shower and tub were in keeping with luxury standards. As usual for Fairmont, service was gracious and accommodating.

Room Tip: All rooms have great views
