“Fun tour of the Northern suburbs!”
Reviewed 14 June 2014

I was lucky-enough to be the only guest (scheduling error) on the Northern suburbs tour with Alan. Alan knows the area well and I had a blast zipping around the different sites. We later joined a larger group and I have to admit that it wasn't the same experience as you have to pay a lot of attention to other guests (not crashing into them), and it got a bit nutty trying to cross busy city streets with a long train of people. Despite this, the tour guides were great, and it was a fun / different way to hear about the city's history!

“Great way to see the city real quick”
Reviewed 9 June 2014

Never had been on a Segway and training was quick and easy. Guides were friendly and knew the sights we were seeing. Great to be able to see where I wanted to go back to after the tour, and that it was walkable from Station Square. Great tour.

“Great way to experience Pittsburgh”
Reviewed 25 May 2014

I recently moved to the PIttsburgh area and wanted to learn a bit more about the city. A friend came to visit over the Memorial Day weekend, so we decided this would be a great opportunity for both of us to get introduced to the city and have some fun while doing it.

The guides to great care to ensure everyone was able to operate their Segway adequately before leaving for the tour. Some folks were able to pick it up very quickly, 10 minutes or less, and others required a bit more training. By the time we left, everyone had the basics down and could operate the scooter well enough to not be a danger to themselves or those around them :)

Overall we had a very enjoyable experience, both by learning a bit more about the city and riding the Segways. One thing that could be improved, is a better microphone for the guide. When the wind blows into/across the mike, it was hard to hear him sometimes.

When my family visits this summer, guess where I'm taking them to get introduced to the city?

“A most amazing tour!”
Reviewed 2 October 2013

I have been to Pittsburgh more times than I can count. This tour proved to bring out many things that I found to be amazing, amusing, and educational. The tour guide Sarah was amazing. You begin your tour across the river at Station Square. The tour consists of an amazing two hour tour which takes you over the river, across bridges, and through many of the parks as well as other exciting places of interest. There is an amazing rest stop area that provides simply incredible views of the skyline of Pittsburgh. There was a surprise stop at an ice cream shop that was wonderful as well. This tour is a "must do" item for anyone visiting Pittsburgh. I brought three friends from Slovenia to accompany me on the tour. Their comment was "best thing we have done in America!" That made the trip well worth it! You have got to make your way to Segway in Paridise. It will provide memories that will last a lifetime!

“Great tour but....”
Reviewed 13 September 2013

Great tour but instead of stopping to take a break were we could sit down relax and maybe share an ice cream, our guide stopped at some weird and somewhat inappropriate mosaic (full frontal nudity of men and women) park were there was no comfortable place to rest, eat or drink. It made my rating go to average when it could of been excellent.

Wayne C.,

I am very sorry to hear that you were displeased with our rest stop selection. We have taken great consideration into an area we believe is suitable for our tours. We selected Allegheny Landing as our rest area for many reasons. The location provides an incredible view of our great city's skyline, making it a great spot for photo opportunities. We also selected this location because it provides a nice place to sit and relax for a bit along the riverfront. I greatly apologize if the artwork in the park offended you in any way, or if you simply did not like the style. Just as a clarification, the artwork is a Greek Mosaic sculpture called Mythic Source and Piazza Lavoro, created by respected and famed artist Ned Smyth. The Heinz family & H.J. Heinz Company commissioned the artwork in 1984 in order to recognize and honor Pittsburgh's great contributions to labor in America, and how these contributions led to the establishment of our nation. The figures in the art who are nude symbolize the great pain and struggle that American men and women endured while building civilizations. In addition, palm trees are present to act as an atone for achieving these goals.

We have received many compliments for selecting a nice, quiet, comfortable park to rest and take pictures. If the artwork in this park becomes too offensive for the majority of our riders at any point, we will very seriously consider other options. In addition, the rest is intended to last 5-10 minutes, just to let riders rest their feet and legs and maybe have a drink of water. Being that the tour lasts 2 hours, time for a snack break is not included. We do stop for ice cream on Sunset Tours (tours with this additional break built into the route).

We are always receptive to suggestions for positive change, and value your input. If you have any suggestions or recommendations for other locations along the tour route that would be better suited for a rest stop, do not hesitate to contact me directly.

Kind regards,

Sara Harper
