Famous exhibit of dinosaurs, love the egyptian room and the huge gem display the other side is the art museum so you can visit both with one entrance fee. Also, an interesting hall of architecture.

My wife and I came to Pittsburgh to visit her recently transplanted son. The weather was horrendous so we looked for an indoor activity for the afternoon and chose this museum.
This was a nice place - you can definitely cover the whole place within a couple of hours. Definitely child friendly, with plenty of dinosaurs and a couple of side activities to keep them happy. I recommend it.

I've been here several times throughout my life and it's always a wonderful time. This place has some extremely cool, interesting and fascinating exhibits. It's famous for the dinosaurs but you really need to see the other parts of this museum, even the precious minerals or rocks gallery....I forget what it's called. Don't miss the Egyptian or Eskimo and Native American exhibits either. Somehow, the museum has an environment that is almost magical, for me anyway. Once I step into this place, everything else seems to disappear, like I'm going back in time or a place even better. I'm the type of person who is generally not impressed by the local arts or galleries, perhaps to my detriment, but this place is altogether different, in a good way.
