Checked in here on Thursday for 1 night. Everything went smoothly from the front desk and the room was large, clean, overlooking the lake, etc. Personally, I experienced a lot of door slamming from the rooms around me, to the point, where my own door shook, every time a guest room's door slammed shut behind them. I called the front desk, thinking I must've been put in a room next to housekeeping, but that was not the case. It would be nice if there could be a door softener or something to keep the doors from slamming behind when entering or leaving a room. I want to give this hotel a higher rating than average, but Housekeeping knocked on my door the morning of check-out despite the fact that my "Do Not Disturb" sign was hanging outside my door. There should be a better way for Housekeeping to figure out once a guest has checked out and then go and clean a room. It's pretty annoying when you're trying to get some rest and you hear Housekeeping knocking on all the doors around you (and eventually knocking on my own) to clean a room. The location is perfect for downtown and the self-parking garage directly across the street was inexpensive -- $9.75 for 24 hours. If you do wind up here, definitely go around the block on Penn Ave. to a restaurant called Meat and Potatoes and share the pork chop entree with a friend. You won't be disappointed.

The rooms are small but very nice. The location and the view are great from this hotel. You can watch a Pirates game from your window. A little pricey but with internet discounts it's a fair price.
It doesn't take long to get to a lot of attractions from the hotel.

Room Tip: Ask for a view of the river and parks or of downtown, which ever you prefer.

My wife and I live a little over an hour away from Pittsburgh. Therefore, we are frequently in town for any number of reasons: travelling Broadway musicals, baseball games, or the annual Light Up Night. Sometimes after spending several hours in the city, we just don't want to drive home. When those times arise, we stay at the Renaissance Pittsburgh.

You cannot beat the location for nearly anything you'd do in town. We valet our car and check right in. The rooms are spacious, though the floor plan may seem unusual at first. That is a result of the building's layout itself. Service is always friendly, rooms are always clean.

Room Tip: Ask for a river view.

We had a wonderful stay. The hotel is sparkling clean, beautiful, with an ideal location, and amazing staff!
Jennifer, Linda and Faith went above and beyond to make us feel special and the rest of the staff, from doormen, to restaurant staff, to housekeeping were friendly and professional. I highly recommend the Renaissance Pittsburgh!

We were in town for a conference and this was offered as one of the conference hotels. It is a six block walk to the Convention Center. Our room was an upgrade so we enjoyed a very large room on the Club level overlooking the river and the park. The staff go out of their way to offer assistance. We did not eat at the hotel other than in the Club Lounge for breakfast. The breakfast had excellent options with abundant fresh fruit. It is an easy walk to several excellent restaurants, coffee shops and a convenience store on the corner. Market Square is only a five minute walk. The Heniz History Museum about a 15 minute walk. The morning we left was very snowy and the doorman went out of his way to keep us posted on the cab delay and then grabbed a car service which the hotel apparently used. The town car driver was courteous, efficient and only a few dollars more than the cab to get to the airport. All in all our stay could not have been better.

After reading the recent Trip Advisor reviews for this hotel, we concluded that its THE place to stay in Pittsburgh. Well the location is great and the front desk staff were friendly and helpful but that is the last of good things I have to say. The doorman was clueless as to luggage and valet service. The rooms are very small and not well laid out or decorated. And every time a door opens and closes anywhere on your floor, you hear it....along with everything that is said in the hallway. Did I mention that the bar is cold and drafty and the bartender was clueless. We love the Marriott chain of hotels and find most Renaissance near the best. Not this one!

This hotel is great! We stayed 3 nights for pleasure. As a Gold member they took care of us in excellent fashion, but would have done the same if you came in as a non member. Very pleasant staff and helpful too. It was a hard hotel to find even though we had a GPS to guide us. The streets in the area are very confusing for first time travelers to the city. Would recommend valet parking as the parking situation in the area is not good. Valet is wort the $30 a day cost to your room.

Room Tip: bring your own pillows!!!
