This past Friday we were looking to head to the Shadyside part of Pittsburgh for a good meal. The problem finding a place to park and the sudden snow put an end to that. We started driving home and decided to take a different route because of the weather. We passed Jimmy Wans and decided to stop since we have been to the Cranberry location a couple of times. We expected a wait since it was nearly 7:00 on a Friday night but that was not the case. We were seated within minutes. I had Gen Tso's and I cannot remember what my wife had, but she enjoyed her meal and mine was very good as well. Our server was busy but our glasses were kept full and our order was taken quickly.

Jimmy Wan's is a typical American Chinese restaurant with a lot more class. Their atmosphere & decor is fresh and inviting and the staff is alway eager to assist.

There are two Jimmy Wan's, one in Cranberry and one in Fox Chapel. They both have great food, a sleek sushi bar, and an excellent wine selection. They also have outstanding lunch specials with very fair portions.

I would highly recommend Jimmy Wan's for someone looking for a little nicer spin on typical American Chinese food. They are a good choice for business meetings or a romantic dinning experience.

This restaurant had good points and not so good points. Service was subpar. Waiter seemed confused about our drink order and when it was not prepared properly he didn't understand that we wanted a new one (he was American). They didn't charge us for the drink so that was OK.

We ordered sushi and 2 traditional Chinese menu items. The sushi was lousy. Tasted like it was prepared a day in advance. Fish was brown instead of pink, which means it was sitting around for a while.

On the good side, the moo shu pork and sesame beef and hot & sour soup were delicious. Prices were reasonable. I would return and stick to the Chinese.

We're regulars here; the only reason I don't give it five stars is that the experience can vary depending on who is cooking that night and whether your server is experienced or new. Levels of spiciness are unpredictable, bit in general the food is good. They have brown rice and a fair number of vegetarian dishes. They are also quite flexible about substituting tofu in just about any dish, and can do steamed or fried tofu. Sushi is of the elaborate anything-goes sort that has become popular recently (though traditional is also available) and is usually fresh and flavorful. The owner, Jimmy Wan himself, is charming and attentive and usually on hand. Drinks are good and fairly strong. The bar is separated from the dining room by a windowed wall so the noise level is contained, but you can sneak glances at the TV to check the score.
