“Going to visit family”
Reviewed 15 June 2014

Squirrel Hill is an area I pass through to get to Homestead and Kennywood Park. The area seems quiet we ate there once or twice at a fast food restuarant. I think the restaurant could have used some updating.

“Why would anyone visit here?”
Reviewed 22 March 2014

Squirrel Hill is a local middle-middle class neighborhood with the kind of shops and businesses that serve locals. Over the years, the neighborhood has lost most its ethnic feel and is now just another nondescript city residential neighborhood. place. There isn't a single thing to attract any visitor. Pittsburgh has some good stuff, but why waste time fighting the traffic there.

As a place to live, it probably gets a 4. As a place to visit, a 1 is overly optimistic The fact that it can get a 4 star shows how useless Tripadvisor reviews are. A Gem? What a laugh.

“NO LONGER THE JEWISH NEIGHBORHOOD”
Reviewed 24 February 2014

We visited to area upon recommendation believing the area to be a Jewish community; this is no longer the case. Very disappointed. There is nothing but pizza joints and Asian foods door to door. The massage envy facility is okay but over all the town was disappointing. The original synagogue's and many of the original houses are very nice. Only one Jewish restaurant and one Jewish grocery were left.

“thriving international neighborhood”
Reviewed 7 October 2013

While the area is still a Jewish neighborhood, it is intermingled with Asian, Italian, Mediterranean, etc. Shops and restaurants of many nationalities are interspersed throughout. It is a fun place to walk or drive by.
