3rd visit over last decade. Not inexpensive. 2 adults and 1 child =$39 with no show add ons. They dont' take AAA; but are in entertainment book. Venue is small but well done. 1 hr should be enough. The free show that takes place in the rose garden was well worth seeing. Don't miss it(might not take place in bad weather though so check). You can walk to children's museum(2 min) and PNC park(10-12 min) from here--so you can park once. Parking is tight-but free at meters on Sundays

My daughter adores "Bird Kingdom" in Niagara Falls so when we heard NATIONAL Aviary, we pictured something quite extensive, and budgeted a morning's time. We ended up staying an hour, going at a very leisurely pace. It was immaculately clean, nicely presented, the birds all looked in good health - but wow, was it ever smaller than we'd expected. The constant appeals for more money after not-small entrance fee (straight donations, or to participate in special experiences, or to attend special shows) also got old fast. We "splurged" on lorikeet feeding, me intending to get pictures of all 3 kids taking turns feeding the beautifully coloured little birds (this is easily possible with how much food they give you at Bird Kingdom) but by the time 1 shot was taken with first child he single bird that the trainer had coaxed into my son's hand had finished the tiny amount of nectar we were given. Disappointing in amount, and in how uninterested the birds were to approach the kids (perhaps they were overfed by other patrons?).
Overall, worth visiting, but be prepared for hard sell and make more plans for what to do after.

We spent most of a day here. You could see it in less time, but I'd highly recommend seeing all the shows. Loved feeding the Lorikeets - we did it twice! You hold a small dish of nectar and they perch on your hands to lap it up. The shows were educational and fun. I have new respect for vultures! Raptors demonstrate their ability to catch food in flight in the "Talons!" show. The Wetland Feeding (included in entry fee) was wonderful - you could hold a worm and the bird would fly by and grab it. Also, feed the pelicans! Many of these activities charge an extra dollar or three, but it is well worth it. The facility itself was immaculate, with beautiful enclosures for the birds, and a very friendly and knowledgeable group of staff and volunteers available to answer questions.

Don't know what that means? Visit the Lorikeets to find out! Amazed and in love - the only way to express how my kids feel every time we leave here! We love it so much we are season members! It's like a new visit each time! Just beware that the parking meter doesn't give change! $5 -your change is a "donation" so be sure to have exact unless your in the mood for additional donations :)

I went to the National Aviary for a wedding! At first, I thought it was a weird location for a wedding, turned out to be the perfect place. Very romantic, clean and you are able to tour the facility at anytime. The staff seemed very friendly and loved the animals. Plus, the kids had a blast! The staff brought the penguin out for about 10 minutes. I can't comment on the cost to have a wedding there but overall this was a prefect setting for a wedding and can be a wonderful experience for all ages.
