“FABULOUS!”
Reviewed 15 August 2014

Went with a group of friends and had a wonderful experience! Food was out of this world, service even better! This is a must stop for anyone that loves good Italian food, the way it should be. Owners were wonderful and Alex behind the bar is awesome! We will be back!

“Disappointing!”
Reviewed 7 August 2014

We came here to celebrate our anniversary. We have had wonderful luck going to Italian restaurants around the world so had high hopes about this one. And it had many good reviews. However, our experience didn't live up to our hopes. The fried smelts (appetizer) were over-breaded and greasy. The Caesar was heavily dressed and the lettuce wilted (and, when we were asked if we wanted anchovies, we were told they were $1.50, each, extra ... not on the menu!) "Mama's marinara" sauce, which came on the side of pasta, was quite ordinary. Veal mia was adequate but too heavy with cream for my taste. The only saving grace was the cod and white beans which was nicely cooked and quite delicious. This was the only thing that saved this restaurant from being rated terrible. And did I mention that the wine list was quite below par?

Not recommended!

“I remember Sunay at Nunnies”
Reviewed 25 July 2014

If you enjoy authentic Italian food and not the foo foo over the top and over priced then this is the place. The staff and owners welcome you with open arms and you are immediately taken back to Sunday at Nunnies House. The food is delicious and the service is friendly. The decor is that of Louies in the Bronx from the Godfather. Weekday they offer any two dinners and a carafe of wine for under $40.00 and the choices are from the entire menu. I had the Veal Romano and my wife had the Chicken Mia (artichokes, spinach and tomato with a Lemon caper sauce) she wanted to lick the plate. Mia Madre may not be for everyone some folks think Dominos is pizza. We will return Oh and the Bartender Alex (owners son) is Great!

“Average Italian fare in a somber environment”
Reviewed 8 June 2014

We went to this restaurant because of the fine reviews it had received on Tripadvisor, but it turned out to be nothing special. The "homestyle" quality means the food is decent enough but in no way remarkable. We started with stale bread sticks that came with a tasteless bean dip. The salads were heavy and not super fresh. My baked cod was a bit dry. My wife's Mediterranean chicken was plain but fine. The dishes were accompanied by pasta with a very ordinary tomato sauce. The tiramisu I had for dessert was good but too heavily doused with chocolate syrup and sugar. Service was friendly and informal, by middle-aged women. Waiting times were quite short, but we were the first customers that evening. The interior of the restaurant (which is not so small) is somber, with dark furniture, dark napkins, and bizarre decorations including artificial foliage with Christmas lights. Cash only. This place is strictly for addicts of Italian "homestyle" food.
