Try the sushi, it's the freshest in Pittsburgh! First Date Roll is an instant classic. Really, you can't go wrong. Family, date and solo friendly!

My Wife and I were looking for a good Japanese restaurant in the South Hills so hit the internet and found Little Tokyo. Since we lived nearby, we decided to walk to the restaurant and try them for lunch. My wife had a Maki Sushi platter and I had the Tempura Udon noodles.

Let me start with the Udon, it was rich and savory and chock full of delicious veggies and shitake mushrooms all the way to the last drop of soup. The Udon also included sliced fish cakes and two shrimp tempura. So good, it might have been the best Udon i have ever had in any restaurant, I would highly recommend it, especially on a chilly day, like the day we went. My only criticism, the Tempura batter gets very gloppy if you let them soak in the soup too long, best to eat the shrimp right away before the batter absorbs too much soup.

My wife's Sushi Platter, came with three different types of Sushi roll and was also quite tasty, as she let me some. She did like it although she wished she had also ordered Udon.

Bottom Line, a very tasty meal in a nice, but modest setting.

If you want good sushi, go to Umi (located in Shadyside, above Soba which is another great restaurant. The sushi here is overpriced and tastes nothing different than what you can get from Giant Eagle (with 3 times the amount for the price also). The side soup is luke warm, soup should always be hot. The ramen makes you cough constantly (who knows what they put in it). The chicken sometimes tastes a little plastic-like. The service is terrible, she gets your food after you finally realize you have to call the server over because she never comes over. . . . then after you have your food, they never fill up your drinks, ask if you need anything else, or ask how the food is (which most food there is sub-par or gross). Waited about another 20 minutes after we finished our food to receive our check.

HOWEVER, they deserve one star because they do have ONE amazing thing there. Their Ginger dressing is unbelievable. They sell it in tubs too because it is so good (only four bucks too, now that is reasonable); their salads only have lettuce, so just get the dressing in the tub alone and make your own salads (my suggestion).

Each dish was top quality: fresh, well cooked, and well seasoned.

The atmosphere inside was fantastic and fun, the place is gorgeous, service was excellent.

Only quibble: The quantity of food served wasn't very satisfactory. If you're very hungry, one entree might not be enough.
