I went to Wigle when it first opened and was really only presented with the opportunity to buy unaged, clear whiskey. I completely understand that this was due to the distillery just opening so I wanted to wait until they actually had actual aged whiskeys as the clear stuff just isn't my style.

First, when I went there early in their existence, the Gin was exceptional. I got the gin because I like gin and because the whiskey wasn't yet aged.

Fast forward to this past month when I returned to Wigle with a few friends for cocktails and a bottle of whiskey. First off, the cocktails are the best I've ever had. Hands down. They make their own sours mixes and everything tastes exceptionally fresh and absolutely amazing. After some cocktails, we took a bottle of their organic aged rye home and boy, what a delicious treat that was. Pair it with a cigar and you literally have the perfect deck and lawnchair situation on your hands! I am so unbelievably happy that Wigle has made it and look forward to it being a staple for years to come. Amazing work.

As avid whiskey drinkers, my husband and I recently explored Wigle's new Whiskey Garden and Barrelhouse and had a GREAT time! Wigle has been about working with different communities since the beginning with their 92 Neighborhood Series and bringing in local restaurants from various communities for their events. It is exciting to see them reaching out to the North Side to help bring more Pittsburghers to that neighborhood. Drinks were delicious, very creative and and refreshing. Wigle's family of employees went out of their way to make us feel at home and made sure we had a good time.

The distillery in the Strip is a lot of fun and very informative, but the Whiskey Garden is going to be a great place for locals and visitors to hang out and relax. Be sure to visit both locations!

Whether you are local or coming from out of town, you should stop by Wigle Whiskey. They brought distilling back to Pittsburgh (post-Prohibition). Until recently they were solely located out of the distillery on Smallman St. The atmosphere there is open and vibrant, with the smell of whiskey in the air :). Their staff is knowledgeable and they are extremely friendly and accommodating, which you would expect from a family based endeavor. You should stop in at either location and grab some drinks and learn some history. They aren't just pumping out the whiskey either. A few other options for non-whiskey drinkers are a honey based spirit (similar to a rum, but also very different) as well as a Dutch style gin.

Their newly opened whiskey garden in the Northside has a lot of potential too. Not only will it be their barrelhouse, it also will have a relaxing environment where they plan to grow some of the ingredients in their products.

Head to either location for a great time!

Recently a group of 6 had a tour. The tour was combined with actual making of the whiskey coupled with the history of the Whiskey Rebellion very good job and interesting. You start off with a drink and these are not your average drinks. That day we had 3 to choose from. At the end of the tour you sit down and taste tests 6 different whiskers. We really had fun and would recommend.
