We were in Pittsburgh for the jazz festival and enjoyed great food all over the Strip District, but the wonderful steak sandwiches we had at Gaucho were amazing. You can smell the wood smoke outside when you walk up. The grilled meats create an intoxicating aroma that grabs you by the nose. Very small place, but if you're in the area and miss Gaucho, you will be missing out on something exceptional.

Highly recommended!

Not much room for seating, so you may want to order to go.
We had the sandwiches, grilled meats, corn & veggies.
All were delicious. The chorizos were good- the spicy was much more flavorful than the garlic. I love the kielbasi at S&D Polish Deli further down the road.
We would definitely return to eat here again.

- excellent food!, meats were perfectly cooked, great side sauces and spices on the food, grilled corn, potatoes, everything was amazing. Next time I would order all five meats, and probably try and eat the rest of the menu.
- Affordable -$27 for our meal and we were extremely happy and satisfied (and we're big eaters, so quantity was not lacking)
- People who worked there were really nice and cares about your experience and how you liked everything
- byob- keeps the price lower and you can drink what you want. They'll give you glasses and open your wine
- cool outside sitting area
- did I mention the food was incredible?

- limited seating
- can have long lines
- byob awesome, but not a lot of nearby options (we went to Roland's, a microbrewery, and got 16 oz beers in jars)

We tried Gaucho after reading good reviews and having a taste for this kind of food. The smell of wood smoke and grilled meat in the air outside was a foreshadow of how good the food was. So good that I gave been back two more times in the two weeks since the first time. We have really been trying to go through the menu. The grilled vegetables and corn on the cob are must have sides. The roasted potatoes are perfect. So far we have had: skirt steak, flank steak, shrimp, braised beef with rosemary sandwhich , and also empanadas. Even the toast with the food us great. The 4 sauces are totally worth encorporating into the food. All are very good. The garlic, chimichurri, and pimento are must haves and the carmelized onion sauce is also good.
Everything is served on attractive wood plates and looks delicious. The staff is very friendly. Presently you wait in line then order and wait for your food. There is outside seating and that is the best way to enjoy. We did take out once and while the food was still great it was not as good as eating there. I know that they are adding space which is good. When word really gets out about gaucho they will need it. The Strip only gets better with Gaucho.

Right now this place is mainly a takeout joint. It has counter seating for about 6 people and outdoor seating, but no heat lamps, so you have to be pretty hardy since winter won't end. However, by July or August they should have a full restaurant going.

The food is phenomenal. I had the small ribeye, corn-on-the-cob and the dulce de leche s'more for dessert. Each dish was excellent. The ribeye was seasoned and cooked to perfection. The corn was very good and the postre was a very nice twist on the standard campfire treat. There were a couple of things they were out of when we got there (at 6pm!), including empanadas, so we were limited in what we could try by availability.

The staff are phenomenally friendly. This place will become a regular for me.
