Owner description: Situated in the heart of Oakland, Schenley Park has come to be Pittsburgh’s civic park. Created in 1889 with land donated by heiress Mary Schenley, the park now contains 456 acres of trails, woods, and attractions. A daily destination for university students, business-people, and outdoor enthusiasts, the park also hosts major annual events such as the Vintage Grand Prix and the Pittsburgh Race for the Cure. Visitors to Schenley Park can spend a morning at the remarkable Phipps Conservatory, enjoy lunch and a concert at the Schenley Park Cafe and Visitor Center, relax on Flagstaff Hill, play a round at the Bob O’Connor Golf Course, head to the Schenley Oval Sportsplex for ice skating or summer sports, or take a dip in the swimming pool. And of course, the trails offer a refreshing and convenient escape from the city. The Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy restored the Schenley Park Cafe and Visitor Center in 2001 and operates the space today with event and culinary partners, Eat'n Park Hospitality Group. In 2005, the Parks Conservancy worked with City of Pittsburgh crews to rehabilitate the Phipps Run stream channel that stretches from behind the Visitor Center down to Panther Hollow Lake. Restoration of the Panther Hollow Watershed is continuous, with the ultimate goal of restoring Panther Hollow Lake to a water quality that will once again allow for recreational use.

What a lovely place to take a stroll thru the park. It has many different features that parks have and hosts many events here. My favorite place on a lovely sunset night is the oval to check out the city view.

You dont find many parks like this in the middle of a city. There are many trails or if you prefer the sidewalk, there are plenty of those as well. A nice place to relax, or play a game of tag with friends.

Schenley Park sits smack dab between two internationally known Universities in the heart of Pittsburgh's Cultural district. Situated between Carnegie-Mellon University and the University of Pittsburgh, Schenley Park has been a place to relax, enjoy nature and participate in many of the sponsored activities for students of both these institutions, as well as the residents of Pittsburgh. Carnegie Museum, Phipps Conservatory and Schenley Plaza - a grouping of several food kiosks and a carousel skirt the Park's borders, while inside the Park you'll find an ice skating rink (in season), a City Parks swimming pool (in season) and even a public golf course! Schenley Park has been added to the National Registry of Historic Places. If you visit Pittsburgh, be sure to allow some time to enjoy this Park's many trails, picnic spots and facilities!

A wonderful place to walk and enjoy life. Lots of activities and they have a real Disc Golf Course. I could spend a week walking around and enjoying the park in all of it's variety. Take your time and get away from the noise.

Schenley Park is a great place in all seasons for hiking and biking. Several school including Carnegie Mellon, Pitt, and Duquesne start their cross country meets at Schenley Oval. The park's ice skating rink and tennis courts also offer public recreation opportunities. I love the views from vistas in the partk.
