“Great Place to Stay”
Reviewed 26 August 2014 via mobile

I travel to Ptg often for business and this hotel is within walking distance of my work. The hotel is very clean and modern. The staff is excellent and very accommodating. Hotel is located directly across the road from PNC Baseball Park and walking distance to many great restaurants and attractions. This is a perfect place to stay if you want yo be downtown.

We didn't book ahead of time but decided we want to hit the Rivers Casino located inside the city of Pittsburgh and wanted to be within walking distance incase we decided to drink. The Hyatt Regency is closer but they were booked so they called Springhill suites and they gave us a the casino rate which was $149 a night and they had plenty of room. The regency was $200per night and so we ended up saving $50. Since we had a car we ended up having to pay an extra $19 per night for our car but that really wasn't too bad. Especially since they gave us a card for river with a $20 dollar credit for the slots with the casino rate at the hotel.

They had a complementary breakfast from 7am till 10am but since we were up late we didn't go downstairs to have it but we did use the complementary wifi in all of the rooms. The room featured a sitting area as well as a bedroom area in the sitting area they had a empty mini-fridge and a microwave. Although the hotel had no room service they had some food in the lobby for sale, including microwavable pizza and other microwavable foods. The kitchen in the room also has a Keurig Coffee Maker and they only gave us 2 cups one decaf and one regular soooo no tea which was a bummer to me. However if your a big Keurig buff you could always bring your favorites.

The bathroom was split the toilet and shower were separate from the sink. The Complementary Shampoo, Conditioner, Body wash and soaps were all Paul Mitchell and were VERY nice. They also provided a makeup wipe and I'm sure you could request more if needed.

They did provide us with a late check-out of 1:30pm but of course we had to request this. The hotel is right across the street from the PNC park so if you are planning to go to a game it would be a great hotel to stay in as your parking is literally across the street.

Room Tip: I personally prefer to be on a upper floor and this hotel was quite tall. Also ask for late checkout...

All in all the stay was very good. The location is great especially for someone who is going to the ball game. The Soho restaurant downstairs is top notch. Also all of the people at the desk were very nice, they provided a complementary shuttle to town, helped with directions and anything we asked. The room was clean and decent size. We asked for extra towels but didn't get them. No worries. There was the thing about trying to get to the hotel during the game as a lot of the roads were blocked so I drove through the alley ways. Be careful. The complementary breakfast was great except for the eggs which didn't taste like eggs. They had lots of other foods, coffee, cereal, etc. All of that was very good. The only other down thing would be the high cost ($19) for parking that is charged. This coupled with the State and other tax $16 each = $32 per day. This came to an extra $51 per day. I think since the parking lot is next to the building, perhaps Marriot should consider lowering this or eliminating the costs. Especially since the taxes are not within the control of Marriot obviously.

Bottom line this is a very nice hotel and I will return. Thank you for making our stay nice.

The greatest attraction of this hotel is its proximity to PNC Park; even a minor leaguer could throw a ball from the hotel entrance to the stadium façade; literally right across the street. Stayed in a 2 queen studio and it was very spacious – plenty of room. Room was very clean even though the carpet had numerous coffee stains – not dirty, just unsightly. Bed was very comfortable. Bathroom appeared to look older than the rest of the room – it may not have participated fully in the 2012 refurbishment – but it was clean nonetheless. Hotel is right up against an elevated highway so there is some road noise throughout the night – not a big issue but obvious. Plenty of bars and restaurants within walking distance.

Marriott rates this as Category 7 hotel – I don’t see that though. Felt and looked more like a 5, maybe a 6 on a good day.

The Residence Inn is at the opposite end of the parking lot and is equally close to the stadium. Spring Hill Suites are near the left field line, Residence Inn is behind home plate. But you cannot see the playing field from either property because the stadium structure blocks the view.

Had a very comfortable stay. Would return.

Room Tip: The closer you can get to PNC Park, the further you'll be from the highway.

We stayed here the night before we moved my daughter into Pitt. Without traffic, it's about 10 min drive, but with rush hour, could be 20-30 minjlgkjklkljf. Pros: very large rooms, nicely lit, very clean, hallways brightly lit, decent breakfast (nothing fancy though), very clean and roomy. Cons: $19 to park. :(( If you're going to a baseball game, you almost couldn't get any closer!

I got a great deal thru Priceline! This hotel has spacious rooms. Very nice & clean. Fridge, microwave,& Kurieg in each room. Hotel is close to both stadiums, restaurants, bars, & Stage AE. Easy walking to many places. Only negative is the $19 a day parking!
