The Pittsburgh cultural trust operates the theater district of downtown Pittsburgh. The Benedum Center houses concerts, Summer productions, and Broadway across America
The theater is very elegant with staircases leading to a view of the grand lobby below. They also have elevator access, hearing impaired devices, as well as bathrooms on every floor. There is a small food area along with special drink areas where you can purchase items to take to the performance. The place is very clean and seats quite comfortable. An elegant chandelier hangs over the center of the audience
The theater is currently showing the CLO spotlght production which include musicals such as "Singing in the Rain", "Cats", and "Spamalot" to name a few. In the fall it hosts "Broadway across America" This year's productions will include "Motown the musical","Pippin", "the Nutcracker", and "The Phantom of the Opera"
Special concerts are given here one of which will be a Beatles tribute in Sept to celebrate their 50th anniversary of coming to America.
This year I visited the Benedum center twice. First to see "Wicked the musical" and then later "Once the musical". Staff was helpful in helping me find my seat. Show souvenirs are available for purchase
The theater can be rented out for special occasions. Parking is available nearby and around the venue.
Both productions I saw were spectacular! Season tickets are available but shows can be purchased individual online or at the Theater Square which is located diagonally across from the venue itself. If you cannot make it to NY to see a show then this theater is the next best thing.
