My husband and I live north of Pittsburgh. For my birthday, we had tickets to see "Wicked" at the Benedeum Theater downtown. We have known about the Parador Inn since it opened. We have toured the neighborhood many times over the years. I promised my husband that I would treat him to a stay there for his December birthday. The morning news on Feb. 4 promised snow that night so I quickly reserved a room. Ed welcomed us in the afternoon and showed us around this delightful place. We returned there after the play driving through a winter wonderland. The accommodations were perfect and so was the breakfast the next morning. I echo another review by saying, "Definitely the place to stay".

Lucky for us that Ed, the host, moved his Parador from Florida to Pittsburgh's North Shore. What fun to have tropical surroundings on a bleak wintry weekend. While the Victorian architecture and furnishings were interesting, what really made it interesting were the unique tropical touches Ed gave the Parador. We stayed on the top floor in a huge two-room suite. Good that we are fit because it is somewhat of a climb. At Ed's suggestion we took the The Pittsburgh Light Rail (commonly known as "The T"). The new (2012) connection from the North Shore to Downtown Cultural District puts to shame many of our country's subway systems.

Dinner at Sonoma Grille almost didn't happen on an early Friday evening because we didn't make reservations. Actually, we tried to get into their sister restaurant Seviche and were redirected across the street. Dinner the next night at Monterey Bay Fish Grotto's Bar at the Top of Mt. Wash. afforded an excellent view of the city as well as a scrumptious meal.

Cultural opportunities abound in Pittsburgh. (Ed has some discount tickets.) Take your pick: concerts, museums...too many to mention. We'll be back and next time will be sure to visit the Phipps Conservatory for a horticulture treat.

My wife and I spent our 10th year anniversary at the Parador, we stayed two nights and wished we could have stayed longer. The room was amazing, and had so much character. Breakfast in the mornings execellent and were personally prepared by the owner,Ed. The place exceeded our expectations. Definitely the place to stay if you are ever in Pittsburg

Beautifully restored Victorian with a fun Caribbean flair! We stayed 3 nights in the Allamanda -- a lovely room with fireplace and a separate living room with sleeper sofa. Excellent breakfast, super friendly staff, parking included and so close to Andy Warhol Museum, Mattress Factory and walkable restaurants. Thanks for a great stay, Ed!

We stayed at the Parador for the better part of a week and were delighted with our stay. The house is beautiful and makes you think you were transported to the Caribbean with the decor and the great reggae music playing throughout the first floor. We stayed in Bromeliad, which is the second story of a carriage house. It was quite private, had a wonderfully large bathroom, and a seating area to watch TV. There was a gas fireplace that keeps the entire room very warm and cozy.

Breakfast at the Parador is GREAT! We loved the delicious breakfasts, fresh coffee, and the delightful conversation each morning with the other guests.

Ed is a wonderful, knowledgeable host. He had many great recommendations for us during our stay. Also, you cannot ask for a better location. It is very close to Heinz Field, the Science museum, the T, and there is a great bar down the street that serves remarkable burgers.

We will definitely return!

Room Tip: For added privacy, stay in a carriage house room
