My husband and I stayed here recently for a friend's surprise birthday celebration. We loved the location of the hotel compared to when we stayed in Pittsburgh last (William Omni Penn Hotel), it was easy to navigate the city streets by foot and was close to a variety of bars / restaurants / casino and other activities. The river walk is beautiful, just watch out for the bikers that come flying around the corners! Hotel was nice enough for a 2 nights stay, room was clean and although we opted out of housekeeping service with the do not disturb sign, we awoke to a note under the door stating if we needed anything to just ring them up. Check in was busy when we arrived at around 4 PM on a Friday night, which was to be expected. The line went fairly quickly and we didn't have any issues. Only complaint would be the valet parking! Although the valet staff were friendly enough, it was a complete mess when we pulled up, we had to wait for almost 20 minutes just to get to it and the price is $28 / day (which they just put on the bill upon check out) - word of advise, call ahead prior to leaving so your car will be waiting for you. We left around 10 AM on Sunday and there was a slight back up already and had to wait for 15 minutes or so for them to retrieve our car......not a big deal because the weather was beautiful, not sure I'd feel the same way in January! The walls seem a bit thin here, we were on the 21st floor, but we could hear the entire conversation of the folks in the room next to us which was a bit annoying especially since they were early risers. We didn't eat at the hotel, but did have a few drinks in the bar off the lobby and they had a decent enough selection. All in all we had a good time, loved where the hotel is located and enjoyed walking around the City.

Room Tip: Head to Market Square which is just a short 5 minute walk for a great selection of food.

I am in Pittsburgh every month on business. I usually stay at the Convention Center but decided to see if Wyndham had made some improvements since taking over from Hilton, which had run the hotel for forty years.

An outfit called Tri State Valet handles the valet service and they have no association with the Hotel and are accountable to no one. No one there to take your car? They don't answer the phone? It takes 30 minutes to get your cat back? Too bad. It's your problem, not theirs. You try to tell them their service is unacceptable and they get in your face big time. These people destroy the hotel's reputation before you even set foot in the place. Usually when this happens in Pittsburgh it's a labor issue and they want the hotel to lose business. And they are succeeding

As others have noted the hotel staff are hit and miss. The waiters and bar tenders are nice and try to be helpful. Some of the front desk staff (but not all) and especially the managers couldn't care less and have a very negative attitude.

As others have noted, the hotel walls are paper thin. There was a party on our floor that kept us up late until at 3:30 a.m. when we finally asked the front desk for help -- which to their credit they did (otherwise I would have rated this place terrible). We still didn't get much sleep.

If you want to catch me when I'm back in September, you'll find me up the street at the Convention Center hotel. A few extra bucks for easy parking and a good night's sleep are well worth it.
