First time at the Omni in Pittsburgh and it won't be my last. Got a great conference rate so I don't know the price of the full rate so in my experience there everything was a "great value". Pulled up to the front of the hotel - parking was getting tight at the hotel so the valet mentioned the option of parking in a nearby garage and gave the price. Valet with in/out was about $27/night which is pretty good for a downtown hotel. Check in was fast and easy. Lobby is unbelievably ornate with lots of seating areas. Elevators are some of the best I've ever experienced with regard to speed and short wait time. In my 2 night stay I never had to wait more than about 10 seconds for an elevator on any floor. Corridors were warm, quiet, and well lit. Never heard a sound from another room (yes they were occupied).

Guest room was old in architecture but modern in amenities. Large flat screen TV, large closet, large dresser, large desk - beds were comfortable with reading lights on each side. The nightstand also had a bright LED at the floor that was motion triggered - it's very handy when you have to get out of bed in the dark. Climate control was dated but had fast response time.

Bathroom was very clean - not a hint of mold or stains. Good supply of soaps, towels, etc. Toilet flap didn't always close properly so the toilet ran sometimes - and that would be my only 'negative' comment about my experience.

Hotel is within a 15-20 minute walk of PNC park and numerous restaurants. Good bagel shop around the corner, drugstores nearby, shopping district only a few blocks away all contribute to a great location. Cab to the south side took about 8 mins. Also, visiting baseball teams stay here. During my stay the Reds were here - saw some players in the elevator and Dusty Baker in the lounge (Reds' manager). All in all a great hotel - my new fav in the 'burgh.

My title says most of it. The hotel is perfectly located for a lot of sports (walking distance or easy subway to the stadiums) cultural (walking distance to theaters) and shopping. Beautiful restored lobby, rooms modernized and very big (at least mine was). Good beds, quiet. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Only downside and reason for 4 out of 5: no free wifi. Great base for Pittsburgh events.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the west side, looking toward the 'point' of Pittsburgh.

I am a meeting planner for a buying group. We used this hotel as our headquarters, and the nearby convention center for our exhibits. This hotel has a lot going for it: beautiful lobby, restaurant, and meeting space; exceptional service staff; great food and beverage offerings. I especially like their cozy Tap Room, although I did not have time to enjoy it this visit! The hotel is currently working on remodeling more of their rooms, although they are already very comfortable and attractive. One item that stands out, is that if you join their Select Guest program, you can have free coffee delivered to your room in the morning, complimentary ironing, and several other great services.
Great hotel choice in Pittsburgh, and lots of amenities within walking distance!

Room Tip: Some rooms can be small - it's an older hotel, and nothing about it is cookie-cutter. If room s...

My stay was the perfect lodging experience. The hotel decor is historic and classy. The rooms are renovated with modern amenities. The bed, pillows were very comfortable. The location is centrally located downtown. I've had hundreds of hotel breakfasts, but this one is the best. Freshest tasting eggs, delicious bacon and thick crunchy english muffin. The staff at the restaurant, front desk, doormen - professional. I purchased through Priceline for 60% published price. The only thing lacking - no HD - very small nit.

Room Tip: Use priceline, ask for a renovated room.

As a parent of a U of Pitt. student,we have taken many trips to Pittsburgh. At first we stayed closer to campus. For the same price we decided to try the Omni. It was far superior to any other options near campus and it was a quick 10 minute drive. The rooms are beautiful and spotless, the staff went above and beyond! It is a magnificent hotel built in the 1930's. The arcitecture and ambiance are amazing. Love the location. We walked to the stadium as well as restaurants and entertainment venues. This was our last trip for graduation. The school of business graduation venue was Heinz Hall,a quick half mile walk,no parking hassles and many lunch options.

Room Tip: Join Omni rewards for upgrade offers, late checkout etc. park in lot across the street, much more reas...

We are thrilled that you had a great stay but regret that we weren't able to host you for more stays during your child's time at Pitt. If your travels bring you back to Pittsburgh we hope you will consider The Omni William Penn for your accommodations.

My wife and I initially stayed at the William Penn Omni before we moved to Pittsburgh, while looking for apartments. We were able to snag a Priceline deal for $90/night, but even so it seems the prices average in the mid 100 range which is a fair deal. It's an old building, dating back to the mid 1910s, and has been kept up well unlike many of the other relics in Pittsburgh (take a trip here and you'll see what I mean). The lobby is expansive, with a classic atmosphere that radiates class without screaming old-fashioned. There is a restaurant and a Starbucks located opposite each other. We tried the restaurant, the Terrace Room, for dinner and the food was pretty good for a hotel restaurant albeit a bit overpriced.

Check in was easy, and service was as you would expect from an upscale, business-focused hotel - quick, efficient and mostly unobtrusive. There isn't too much in the way of amenities at this hotel, but we were there more to see the city so that wasn't a problem for us. The rooms, however, are on the small side. I suppose this is to be expected of an older hotel, but at times our king-sized bed made the room and adjoining closet-sized bathroom feel pretty cramped. The furnishings were adquate and well kept, and everything was kept very clean.

Since we moved to Pittsburgh, I've been to several conferences at this hotel and their conference facilites are pretty amazing. All the rooms are located on the top floor of the hotel with great views of surrounding downtown. The ballrooms are magnificent and grand with large chandeliers and painted scenes on the ceilings. The catered food is actually pretty good for a large hotel operation and even with a large conference the service was spot on.

The location is lacking a little in terms of the immediate vicinity. Although the hotel sits on the east edge of downtown, there's not too much to do in there, especially in the evenings and on weekdays. Redeeming qualities are however found in the easy access by car to Shadyside, Squirrel Hill, or the South Side areas (parking is in a garage across the street and costs extra). The hotel sits across Grant St. from the US Steel tower's light rail station but unless you're going to a game at PNC Park or Heinz Field the subway is pretty useless.

In conclusion, this is a great hotel that has managed high quality over nearly 100 years. The small rooms and downtown location are negatives, but still I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again or to recommend it to someone else. There is no other hotel in Pittsburgh that can compare.
