“Great staff at a superb historic building”
Reviewed 18 July 2014

The William Penn is a very lovely historic hotel that has been nicely upgraded throughout. The rooms were spacious and well equipped. The staff was extremely nice and friendly. The location is convenient to multiple entertainment and eatery districts. If you are up for a bus tour of the city, the tour company picks up at the hotel.

In spring 2013, my boyfriend and I traveled to Pittsburgh for the Tim McGraw concert and some shopping. We are from Toronto, Ontario. At the last minute (2 days before), we decided to go down an extra day early and see the Penguins play the Senators in Game 2 of the playoffs. Obviously we didn't have a hotel booked for the Friday originally, but since we bought our tickets to the game we needed to figure it out. I guess this should be a review for the hotel and Hotwire. We reserved a hotel that was located in downtown Pittsburgh for $90.00 . Once our payment was cleared we received the name of the hotel, the Omni. Although we had never visited an Omni hotel before, we didn't really care what kind of hotel it was. We were just interested in having somewhere to crash after the game.

The hotel was beautiful. The staff was friendly. We checked in and the service at the front counter was great. We headed up to our room and were incredibly happy with the size of the room, the beds, and the amenities. There was a microwave, a mini refrigerator, etc.

We were running a bit late and were nervous that we were going to miss the start of the game. We hurried out of the hotel to realize that the hotel was only a 5 minute WALK to the Console Energy Center. Definitely the best part of this hotel is the location.

I would recommend staying here even if you have to pay full price. And definitely suggest it if you are ever planning to go to a penguins game.

Thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the Omni. Wonderful historic hotel. Was given the Royal Suite since I am an officer on a Board. Absolutely gorgeous. Not as close to the restaurants but the distance wasn't great to walk. The weather was good so didn't have to deal with rain.

I love this hotel. Any time I travel to Pittsburgh I stay here because one is truly transported back in time to the days of Andrew Carnegie and other captains of Industry. However, this Grande Dame is showing signs that she needs a bit of perking up. The lighting and color palette give a very dark and almost dingy feel, and my bathroom was less than sparkling. Threadbare towels added to the feeling that this lovely world may not be doing quite as well as one would hope.

The Omni Hotel in Pittsburgh is really stuck in time and needs a fresh face lift. The entire facility is dark, and needs to be refreshed to entice the traveler of today to want to stay. I would not recommend staying there if you are seeking an exciting get away --- however, for a business trip it works fine.

Olivia was especially helpful at the front desk. We were interested in the riding the nearest incline and she drew out a map and offered suggestions. Be sure and visit the park in front of the hotel, it is beautiful! Food at the hotel is so so. I would find another place to eat but everything else is great.

We booked the Royalty Package; had a wonderful experience. The hotel staff is friendly, knowledgeable and courteous. The concierge helped us get a tour of Pittsburgh. We loved everything about the hotel.
