The hotel is located in downtown Reading, PA. An older site, it has been extensively renovated in recent years. The huge lobby is truly beautiful, with marble floors, high chandeliers, a piano on the second level. There is a very nice restaurant and a charming, comfortable pub off the second floor lobby area. There is attached covered parking, a bargain at just $2 a night. The downside: the furnishings in the room. The beds were large and comfortable, the bathroom spotless, but the furnishings are showing obvious signs of age. The carpet is old and in need of replacement, some of the furniture had scratches and other signs of wear, the bathroom and sleeping area in need of new wallpaper and/or painting. But the staff were great, very friendly and helpful. Hotel is within walking distance of some very nice local restaurants: Judy's; the Ugly Oyster, and the Peanut Bar. The Goggle Works, once an abandoned WW II factory, is now home to artist's studios and shops, and worth a visit. Would definitely stay again.
