“Outstaning Food.......still some details to sort out”
Reviewed 29 May 2014

Five star entrees like Lamb Chops (Crown on daily menu) $28......Wow. Some of the best I've ever had! Seafood Mariscada $21.....Outstanding! (Calamari, Mussels, Shrimp, Langoustine, and Tilapia. The Beer Mussels appetizer name does not even to come close to doing them justice! A gorgeous tomato base sauce of peppers, garlic and wine with plump & plentiful mussels was irresistible with the fresh warm bread served. The Cannoli was obscene with two huge cannoli served with fresh whipped cream.

Downside.....the ceiling is failing from water damage over the adjacent table (Heeeeeellllo! Fix it today), and the cigarette smell in the dining room, seeping from the bar below.....no me gusto.

“Time to update menu and decor.”
Reviewed 3 June 2012

As a general rule, a good restaurant in this area of the Poconos is hard to find. La Vina is not exception to the rule. First impression is many years of stale tobacco smoke. Second impression includes dirty windows, broken screens, and peeling paint. My wife ordered salmon from the menu only to be informed that the restaurant longer serves salmon but had not changed the menu. Another of our party ordered the paella because the listed ingrediants on the menu did not include calamari. When the dish arrived, it was loaded with calamari. Overall, the food was average. For dessert, the connoli are good, but not found on the menu. Then there's the half pitcher of sangria - also not on the menu - that got billed at $14.95.

“Very Good food BUT skimpy portions”
Reviewed 16 March 2012

I have been to this restaurant plenty of times. 3 years ago I would have given it an excellent review but as of last month I will have to downgrade it a bit. The food is still very good and the service was great. My wife and I went their on a Sunday when they first opened so it was not crowded. The paella was very good but the portion size was half of what it used to be. If you are very hungry you will probably have to order appetizers and desserts to feel satisfied. I ordered shrimp fra diavlo and their were 5 nice size shrimp but only a very small potion of pasta. I owned a restaurant and pasta and rice are not expensive. My wife had to ask for more rice for her paella as well. The meals are not cheap so add some more carbs to our plates LOL. There is a bar in the restaurant that has their music so loud that you can not enjoy the nice spanish music that is in the restaurant. Suggestion, lower the bar music and keep the doors closed.
