Each of our daughters was married in a lovely venue but I think this was my favorite wedding place ever. We did not stay at the Lodge itself, although I'm sorry we didn't, but we were there for the wedding and the reception after. The wedding was held outside on a lovely shady lawn beside a lake. We appreciated the shade on a very hot and humid day. It was such a beautiful spot to be married.
A short cocktail period was held on a lawn slightly above the wedding site and right next to the lodge. It was not as shaded, but we were able to go inside.
The reception area was beautiful, surrounded by windows and painted white, giving it a light, bright feel, but it was the food that impressed us!
The wedding couple did not choose a sit down dinner but rather an entire evening of appetizer items brought around by wait staff. A delicious cheese board spread was laid out in an adjacent space and the cheeses were so out of the ordinary - like Stilton with apricot and smoked cheddar. There was also a veggie tray.
All night long we were treated to coconut shrimp with a raspberry and wasabi dipping sauce, Thai chicken, mushroom tarts, and a host of other scrumptious delights. Later there was a buffet of pasta with 3 different sauces, plus a carving station and two salads. And for desert, besides wedding cake, delicious Italian pastries.
I would highly recommend this place to any couples wanting something really different and exceptional as well.
