Horizon View Farms
Reviewed 21 July 2014

We stayed at Horizon View Farms for one night while biking the Great Alleghany Passage. We had our 7 and 9 year old boys with us. The farm is a lovely place to stay for many reasons. The manager Darlene is a lovely person who made us very welcome and provided snacks, dinner, breakfast and a packed lunch, which were all very good. The owner Raphael happened to be there as well and we really enjoyed his telling us about the farm and the driving tour he gave us around the property. They set out all of the ingredients for smores which we made over the lovely outdoor fire pit. While sitting by the fire our kids enjoyed chasing a cat who was very interested in us and they were also amazed to see fireflies for the first time in their lives. The next morning they rode horses for the very first time. This is a great place for families and also a great place to stop along the bike trail.

Our family took advantage of an Amazon Local offer and spent a lovely time at Horizon View Farms. We took a horseback riding lesson and then did a trail ride through the fields and woods. Our horses were reliable and steady, and our trail guides, Andy and Megan, were as pleasant and helpful as could be. The 400+ acres of the farm were beautiful, with ponds, blooming flowers, hilltop views and shady forest trails. To top it off, we enjoyed dinner out on the porch of the B&B, with homemade chili and all the fixins. We also toured the B&B, which is charming and decorated very nicely, making us think we'll be back for an overnight getaway. A thoroughly enjoyable visit!

We had a group of 9 that stayed over the weekend for a retreat in the apartment loft. Everything was perfect. The farm and lands are beautiful. There are adorable horses. The apartment was beautiful, and had snacks and wine ready for us on arrival. We BBQ-d on a huge grill, ate on the porch and then had smores by the fire pit.

This is the perfect place for woman to come together to celebrate life! Horizon View has thought of everything that we needed to enjoy our time together. We were greeted with wine, cooked smores over a campfire, and went on a trail ride. The breakfasts were fantastic. I highly suggest that you check this place out!

Room Tip: Just the two of you - choose a downstairs suite.

Growing up on a large farm was quiet, but we were impressed at the solitude and tranquility of Horizon View Farms. Even the horses were quietly grazing in the fields. Five middle-aged ladies gathered and had nothing but good to say. Upon arrival, there was a delicious warm treat with other amenities which was much appreciated. The breakfasts were absolutely delicious, very fresh, and healthy. They went out of their way to add extras to make our weekend enjoyable. The accomodations were spacious and lovely; the loft is PERFECT for a group - so much space. The managers were very personable and aim to please. We finished our weekend with a somber visit to the Flight 93 Memorial which is a short drive away. We would highly recommend Horizon View Farms!

Room Tip: The loft is perfect for a group. A full kitchen was there if you desire to cook. Five slept comfor...

After biking on the GAP and kyaking on the Yough river we were exhausted. We biked into Rockwood late (8pm) where Cheryl arranged to pick us up and take us to the b&b and my sore rear end was thankful. When we arrived there was a cheese tray and wine awaiting us. This place is beautiful. The room was immaculate and there was attention to detail. So relaxing. In the morning a good breakfast was served. After breakfast my husband and I went down to see and pet the 27 horses they have. They took us back to the trail in the morning. The staff is great and really put their heart into making us feel welcome. We will definitely come back!
