My two teenage sons and I had an amazing stay at the very spacious Depuy unit. It was very clean and well equipped. The rec center had an amazing indoor salt water pool and game room. The area has beautiful scenery and nature all around. We saw deer out of our back window grazing every morning. The Deleware National Water Gap recreation area is right in your back yard here with amazing parks and hiking all around. We spent our first day in New York City and arrived at 2am for check in and were greeted by a very nice and helpful night security guard (Rich?). The next day we went hiking on Mt. Tammany on the Jersey side, drove to Hickory run state park to see the amazing boulder field. The next day we drove to Philadelphia, liberty bell, ran up the Rocky steps, philly cheesesteak and all that! The location of this Wyndham is amazing. The amenities are top notch. The restaurants in the area are fantastic. We ate at the Thai restaurant and loved it! We built a fire in the fire place one night. The beds are comfortable. I will be coming back to this wyndham.

Room Tip: The Depuy units are farther from the recreation center. It is not a walkable distance but they do o...

I stayed at Wyndham Shawnee Village-Depuy on May 4-8, 2014 in a 2 bedroom unit.
“Depuy Townhouses” is really part of the Wyndham Shawnee Village complex (see my separate review). Wyndham bought into these areas, but built the newer and better Crestview units.
When you arrive, if you’re coming off the I80, you will pass a building that has Wyndham signage. Go past that to the sign in and recreation building. This building has an indoor pool, hot tub, snack counter, tiny exercise room, game rooms, sauna, locker rooms, and activity rooms. It also has free WiFi in the lobby. You must pay for WiFi in your unit.
Outside the building is a large mini golf course (pay to play) and outdoor pool.
Depuy is 1.4 miles from this building. This is a very spread out resort; my drive around it logged 6 miles! The resort itself is pretty isolated, necessitating long drives to see the sights. However, Delaware Water Gap is fairly close, and the Pocono Environmental and Education Center is not terribly far.
Depuy was built in 1976 and 1977, and shows its age. There are two types of units: a salt box and a unit with a large porch. I was lucky enough to get a “refurbished” unit, number D67. It is a duplex, with living room, fireplace, 32” TV (mounted too high on the wall with no swivel arm), DVD player, dining area, full kitchen (no ice maker in the refrigerator) with eating area, washer, dryer, full bath with a very small stall shower, Jacuzzi, large bedroom with 2 beds and a 24” TV. That’s downstairs. Upstairs there is another full large bedroom with 2 beds, 24” TV, and full bath with shower/bathtub. There is no safe in the room, and only two telephones: one in the kitchen and one in the upstairs bedroom. The counters are marble, and the kitchen is well equipped. The living room has, I believe, a pull out sofa.
The first bed I slept in on the main floor was extremely uncomfortable, and one pillow was about ½ inch thick, and the other was lumpy! The other bed was comfortable, but also with the industry standard cheap pillows. However, the furnace for the unit is in a closet in the bedroom, and when operating the noise would travel through the wall and into the bed. So the sound was like a lawn mower in the room.
The condo itself was quite nice. Not Ritz Carlton quality, but the cost is very reasonable. Clean, with a lot of windows to let in the sun, plenty of seating, and plenty of closet space.
I was also lucky to be located in a good area, with plenty of room. Some of the “salt box” style units down the road were pretty crammed together.
This is not a 5 star resort (The Wyndham timeshare salesman put down all areas of the resort except Crestview). However, I’d be glad to go back. And I’d be remiss not to mention the staff. The staff is first rate, and went out of their way to make my stay enjoyable.

Room Tip: Ask for a refurbished condo.

We traded one of our timeshares for this Wyndham Resort.Strangest layout of any resort I have ever stayed at in 40 years- half of the condos were off site in various locations with no amenities. We checked in at the main resort area.I had called ahead and emailed to be sure to get a condo with a ground floor master bedroom as my wife had knee surgery.I was assured that we would receive an "updated" unit with ground floor bedroom. We arrived shortly after scheduled check in time began. Our condo was not ready. We waited. After 30 minutes a different desk clerk indicated an alternative condo equivalent to the one assigned was available. We were assured it would be an "updated" condo. We were given a map and told the condo was about 2 miles away from the main resort ( where the swimming pools are). When we found the condo in the midst of other small vacation homes it turned out to be the absolute worst timeshare condo we had ever seen in 30 years of timeshare ownership. The condo reeked of mold. The sofa was broken and actually had a piece of plywood under the seat cushions.Within 5 minutes I was on the phone to the front desk and our assigned condo was still not ready 2 hours past check in time-but had not been re-assigned.So we ultimately were able to check in to a condo that did not smell but 3 hrs late.It was an old ,well worn condo. It was spacious .It was also 2 miles away from the main resort and the pools and amenities. The beds were old, well worn and uncomfortable. We actually put the mattress on the floor because it sagged so badly. Overall worst timeshare vacation experience EVER.

After reading several reviews it's obvious some of these units haven't been updated. Our recent stay was very nice. New carpet, tile in the dining/kitchen area, new counter tops and appliances and the beds were comfy. There is definitely a trade-off for brand new resorts vs. older ones like this in the room sizes. Newer resorts are fancier but often very cramped. I would stay here again, provided it was in a renovated room.

My family of 4, husband and 2 children ages 12 and 10, just got back from staying at the Shawnee Depuy Townhouse #81 and loved it. We stayed in a one bedroom townhouse which was more than spacious. We had a full updated kitchen, island/counter, dining area to seat 8 and living room with pull-out sofa, loveseat, chair and fireplace. The bedroom was very large with 2 double beds, chair, washer and dryer. The bathroom had a standup shower (which could have been larger - only complaint) and Jacuzzi tub. There was more than enough room for all of us. The reviews have been so inconsistent that I didn't know what to expect but loved it. A lot of snow in the area and the resort did what they can do to accommodate the parking situation. We swam at the Recreation center which was very clean and the staff were very nice. Activities all day, a gymnasium, pool and hot tub for adults over 16 only. We spent 2 days at Ski Shawnee and had a very good experience there as well. The rental staff were very accommodating and the experience was seamless.

We were concerned about staying here after reading some reviews. We used our Timeshare to stay in room 122 in Depuy section of Wyndham Shawnee Resort during the fall 2013.

First off. If you want to stay in a Ritz Carelton, then reserve rooms in the Ritz Carelton. If you would like to stay in a spacious townhouse, where you don't have guests above/below or to the side of you and a comfortable, mountain cabin feel, then this place works just fine.

Pros:
Beautiful Area
Plenty to do. Nature path about 2 miles farther down the road, cute stores, near downtown for walmart etc,
Quiet
Near Skiing
A nice escape
Kitchen/Dining space was fine
Fire Place
Plenty of cable channels to watch while sitting by the fire drinking hot cocoa
Enough space to sleep a rather large family comfortably
Common areas were ok.
Indoor pool was very enjoyable but the gaming area was old/items were breaking.
Mini Golf

Cons:
A little old
Things like Couch Cushions, Pillow & Rugs could use replacing
Only wifi access was pay as you go AT&T, would have appreciated free WiFi
They pushed the timeshare sales pitch too hard. When an owner says they don't want to go to the informational meeting and does not want to purchase, then just let him go enjoy, don't try to convince him he HAS to go.

Room Tip: Depuy 122 was enjoyable. Beds were comfortable

This property was nothing like a Wyndham resort and Wyndham should be ashamed to have their name associated with it. The carpets were dirty and stained. The furniture was old and dirty. The bathrooms needed remodeling. The garbage was stored in plastic storage cans and bears attacked them during the night spewing garbage all over the place. The management was unresponsive and unhelpful. Don't go there!
