I have been coming to Skytop Lodge annually for a conference for 15 years. I've always loved it, but this year was disappointing. The setting and grounds remain beautiful, but the food and service were not up to their previous standards. The rooms are adequate, but some modern conveniences are lacking: small bathrooms, no reading lamp on one side of the bed, no TV channel guide. I am told the lodge is under new management. They had better get their act together.

Skytop Lodge is truly one of our favorites for my wife and family. One has the option of many activities; from sporting clays or fly fishing at the Orvis Skytop facility to tennis , golf etc. Not into outdoor activities? There are a host of locales to hunt for antiques. The cuisine is very good on site but if you venture out to The Frogtown Inn you will not be disappointed!

Room Tip: Rooms are smaller in main lodge.

Skytop offers a unique combination of beautiful outdoor activities (especially hiking and golfing) and upscale dining in a comfortable, family friendly environment. Our children requested a return trip there as a college graduation celebration due to to wonderful memories they had as young people visiting there years ago. We all really appreciate the low-key activities, well-kept grounds and friendly staff. Truly a step back in time.

Room Tip: We love the cottages! Each room has a private patio - allows you to keep to yourself or visit outdo...

We had Mother's Day at Skytop Lodge this year with four of our six children and our two grandchildren. The day was perfect as was the wonderful buffet at Skytop. The grounds of Skytop are always beautiful and very much oriented towards family fun. Our son went fishing and was quite successful in the well stocked lake. The whole resort seems totally oriented towards pleasing their guests from the moment you arrive at the front door. There is a new chef who is really pulling out the stops to please the pallets of the guests. We arrived in advance of our children and had the same report from a corporate group that was in the hotel when we arrived...they are coming back....and so are we.

Room Tip: We like the rooms that face west towards the sunset, but the rooms facing the lake are also beautifu...

The building itself and grounds are amazing to see. There appeared to be several different activities offered on site, although I wasn't very clear on what was available while I was there. The room was decent sized; although the bed and tv/VCR were very old. The staff is very friendly and the meals were pretty decent.

We have never been here before. We stayed for a wedding and were pleasantly surprised with how nice of a hotel and grounds this was.
The hotel is charming, the service is cordial. The lobby is large and welcoming. It also has tea time every afternoon, also charming.
The room was quite large. While it is old, it had the usual amenities. The air-conditioning worked very well. The bathroom was small and maybe a bit awkward, but I thought it was fine. The bed was comfortable.
The food was very good.
The grounds are beautiful. The area had nice places to see.
All in all, I would return for a weekend getaway.

I booked the reservation 1 month in advance . I purchased it via Living Social ( 2 night with breakfast $230 total ) for my anniversary . It was me , my hubby & another couple. So we booked 2 rooms.

1. Property is amazing 5500 acres , lots of activities so you wont be sitting ideal. Beautiful , nice people, family friendly just not enough words to describe.

2. Taking half star away because they have 2 buildings far from each other so me & another couple got rooms in different building which we were not aware off neither while make reservation they informed us. They do provide shuttle without hesitation.

3. First night we book Dinner at Lake View it was Fancy but crazy Expensive and its not worth it. So I am taking half star for that.

4. Free Breakfast is amazing

Suggestion:

* If you don't have a deal this place is very expensive for per night ..

* If you want to save money on food stick with Tea Room & Tap room they have available for good food & good price or else go outside the property couple of miles away they have lots of good Diner

Overall it was a wonderful experience . It made our anniversary memorable.

Room Tip: * If you don't have a deal this place is very expensive for per night .. * If you want to sav...
