“This is a state college must!!”
Reviewed 16 November 2013 via mobile

Went here after penn state beat purdue. We try to stop at the green bowl anytime we are in state college. This is a constant good eat. The place itself looks old and dirty but don't let that stray you away. You really can't go wrong with any direction of sauce choices. The only true thing I can complain about is the ice. I don't know if each person is rationed one cup of ice and then you are cut off. That's all for now, be back for THON.

“Mixed Feelings!”
Reviewed 13 November 2013

I have been to the "Green Bowl" several times over the years, and every time I felt that I should really, really enjoy the food. After all - the ingredients are all fresh and the dishes are "custom made". Still - I never had this kind of experience there when everything felt 100% perfect.
I think my problem are the sauces. They have 21+ and even after reading the descriptions I am not sure about what to choose and how much.
Although this is called a lunch buffet (and the price is comparable to others) you cannot take minute amounts of food that you want to try out. You have to put together a whole bowl with veggies, fruits, noodles, eggs, herbs and sauce(s) and in the end decide on meat/fish/tofu options. Then the whole thing will be cooked for you and brought to your table in about 15 minutes - unless they are very busy.
I am sure you know what that means .... If you don't have all the time in the world you will only be able to enjoy 2 - or maybe 3 - selections. Also, even if you add 3, 4, or 5 sauces to opposite parts of your bowl you cannot sample them separately, because they will blend together during the preparation of your meal. If all of that doesn't bother you you have come to the right place! I am sure you could do worse than that!

“Loved it - So fresh!”
Reviewed 27 August 2013

Delicious! So happy I found this place while traveling to Penn State to drop my daughter off for fall semester. Loved the variety of fresh options to choose from and the many sauces. It might be a bit more expensive than some of the fast food options around Penn State, but so worth it. After you select all the "veggie" options from the salad bar type display, a sauce, and a meat, they grill it on a hibachi. You select rice or noodles and voila, they bring you back a wonderfully tasting meal to your liking! You won't be disappointed!!!!

Took a friend to this place. You can build your own noodle bowl and it's all you can eat. Ingredients were fresh. It was a bit disappointing they ran out of chicken and it was still quite early in the night. But overall a great experience!

“Healthy Choice”
Reviewed 24 July 2013

This is one our favorite State College stops as I am always on the search for healthier options. You pick the veggies and meat for your stir fry and choice of brown or white rice is included. The "food bar" of options now includes green salad as well. There is also a breakfast version of this on the weekends which was also very good with alot of sweets! It can sometimes be a little smokey when you walk in since the food is cooked right in the seating area but usually not too bad.
