My husband and I stayed here this weekend. It was our first B&B experience and it did not disappoint! Jan was very kind and showed us all of the extras the Inn had to offer... books, dvds, cds, fresh baked cookies, drinks, etc. whenever you want them. We stayed in the Kris Kringle room and it was very tastefully decorated, immaculately clean and provided a cozy, romantic place for us to stay the night. Breakfast was fantastic... we had great company too! Overall, a wonderful experience and we can't wait to go back again. Thanks Jan!

Amanda - Thanks for posting! Breakfast was especially fun that morning - such an adventurous group! We're happy to introduce you to the world of bed and breakfasts - each one is as different as the owners, but all offer clean and comfortable accommodations, friendly hosts and great breakfasts. And all innkeepers know the best places to explore, shop, and eat!

Rented the Olde Stone Cottage for four adults and two small children. Very comfortable and private settings. Close to Amish country sites for browsing, dining, and buggy rides. Hosts are very pleasant and helpful. Kitchen was adequately stocked with basic needs for the weekend. This was our second trip to this site, and we will likely return.

Jim - thanks for bringing your family back for another stay at our cottage. We hope you liked the improvements since the last time - new fridge, new stove, a piano, and a dishwasher! We're glad you had such nice weather that you could enjoy the back yard too!

Thinking of visiting southern Pennsylvania's Amish country, book a room at the Artist's Inn, we not only were impressed with the inn which doubles as an art gallery and is completely furnished with antiques, but Jan is an excellent breakfast preparer (cook just doesn't seem appropriate). Each morning we were treated to a three course breakfast which would rival anything you'd find at a five star restaurant. Her knowledge of the area and culture is also helpful for anyone not familiar. Kris Kringle room was very comfortable. Thanks Jan, sorry Bruce had an out of town art show, maybe we can meet him next visit.

Room Tip: Book early, the more people that find this gem will make it harder to get reservation.

We stayed here for one night following 12 days of the big cities (Washington, New York, Boston) and couldn't have asked for a nicer contrast. As a couple of weary Brits on our way back home, this little oasis of calm was just what we needed before the final leg of our journey.

Bruce and Jan made us feel so welcome and nothing was too much effort for them. Their knowledge of the local area was so helpful and the breakfast was simply out of this world. The house is gorgeous and the artwork is brilliant - we liked it so much we bought some!

If we are ever back this way we will certainly be staying longer as there is certainly more to see. Thanks guys!

Andy - Thanks so much for posting. After we heard your travel schedule, we were tired too! We love Lancaster County - the scenery relaxes you instantly. Maybe on the next trip you can stay and explore the county a little more - from a hot air balloon, bike or scooter! Glad you arrived home safely.

My husband and I stayed here in August while on a cycling vacation. it is one of the best, if not the best, bed and breadkfasts I have every stayed at - Kris kringle room - spacious and lovely, wonderful ensuite washroom. Bruce and Jan are the perfect hosts - warm, friendly and knowledgeable. The breakfasts were definitely the best I have ever had - Jan is an amazing cook. It was something different every morning, and we were happy that we were cycling, just to know that we would wear off the delicious and generous several course meal! I highly recommened this bed and breakfast to anyone.

Lois - Thanks so much for writing. We love cyclists! They slow down enough to discover hidden treasures that many people miss by driving by. And our barn is perfect for storing the bikes when not in use. We hope you visit again, because the weather you brought that week was perfect!

My wife and I recently spent a night in the kris kringle room--don't be put off by the name--it's very tastefully done and only mildly "Christmas-y". Only improvement would be higher pressure in shower... Breakfast was excellent, as was hostess Jan. Her husband, the artist, wasn't there, but his artwork was interesting, to say the least. Take note of the titles... All-in-all it was a very nice, quiet, and laid back experience in a quaint location. The other guests were cordial and interesting, and made conversation at breakfast lively, while Jan served a wonderful meal. And she had excellent rasberry-chocolate chip cookies out in a jar for all to enjoy--which I did!

Room Tip: we booked on short notice and can't say anything about the other rooms--but they were occupied...

Ian - Thanks for writing about the inn - and also about the shower pressure. We're looking into that and will probably change out the showerhead. We are on city water and our pressure is good - in fact, we had to put in pressure reducers years ago! So I'm thinking the culprit may be the showerhead. We're glad you had a good time - we enjoyed having you as guests.

My husband wanted to go to Lancaster for his birthday weekend and we decided to go at the last minute and found the inn online. I made reservations and called to see if they could do something special for a gift for my husband. Being so last minute Jan and her husband Bruce could not have been kinder to me in getting the gift basket. The inn was so relaxing and quaint. It felt like home and the food was incredible. We had the most relaxing time at the inn and cannot wait to go back. The room and the entire inn were spotless and lovely. We stayed in the Garden Suite and the view from the porch was like out of a painting. Thank you for the perfect trip!!!

Stacey -Thanks so much for posting. I had a lot of fun putting together a basket for a fellow foodie - especially one with such a great nose. Lots of people guess what's for breakfast, but Josh was right two mornings in a row! I love his comment about not being in food jail too! We're so glad you liked the inn and found time to relax....that's important in this crazy, hectic world! We can't wait to see you again.
