“Beautiful garden, friendly staff, lots of seating throughout”
Reviewed 8 September 2013 via mobile

Took my mother here on her eight sixth birthday and both of us enjoyed it immensely the gardens are beautiful without being overly manicured. There is a diversity of settings - sunny gardens, woodland plantings, lots of inspiration for shade gardens, wonderful benches and chairs made from wood and stone placed in interesting nooks in the garden. You are welcome to bring a picnic lunch so you can extend your viewing time. Staff is friendly and helpful. Admission is reasonable ( 10 per adult) and parking is readily available and close to Theron entrance)

“If you need a little time to yourself..Treat yourself to Chanticleer!”
Reviewed 4 September 2013

I truly feel that Chanticleer is a magical place to visit.
I believe you could visit every day and always see something new and wondrous.
Beautifully maintained, quite little nooks with hidden places to sit and take in natures beauty.
Friday nights in the Summer, bring a picnic dinner and a bottle of wine and just take it all in!
Sometimes you feel like you are in an English Garden..
Sometimes you feel like you are in Monet's garden in Giverney..
Or even in Mr. MacGregors vegetable patch waiting to see Peter Rabbit go wisking by..
Just go and see it for yourself or take a lucky guest with you!

“beautiful setting”
Reviewed 3 September 2013

beautiful setting. I went with a friend years ago and it's not as pretentious as longwood but just as beautiful. Perfect setting for romantic dates/photos.

“What a beautiful place”
Reviewed 26 August 2013

Very friendly staff ushered us into an amazing public garden that shouldn't be missed. The number of plantings is astounding. So many annuals intermingled, I can only imagine what it's like at spring planting time.
There is no favorite section to the gardens because it all has its own allure. The containers are spectacular.
Fresh cut flowers adorn so many spaces. The bathrooms can't be missed, whether you need them or not, because they, too, are lovely.
So much to look at, it took us hours to get through it all.
Just lovely.

“Best kept secret in Philly”
Reviewed 24 August 2013

My wife and I have lived in Philly for three years, and had never heard of this place. It's not far from Villanova, and on the drive to the garden, you will pass by some beautiful homes and estates. The gardens are located in a residential area and the parking lot is not huge. If the parking lot is filled before you get there, you have to wait for someone to leave as there is no street parking. I don't want to scare anyone away because I don't know how often that happens, but if you're planning on a big outing there, you may want to carpool. The gardens themselves are magnificent. Everything is very well planned and maintained. There are deck chairs all over the property so you can rest at anytime and enjoy the view. Most of the furniture is hand made by the garden staff and some of it is very clever and definitely adds to the whole scene. $10 to get in, for what you get, seems very reasonable. Picnicking on site is allowed and there are some beautiful spots.
