“A Perfect Location and a Lovely Place”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 September 2008

We just spent a very relaxing weekend at Faunbrook House, which was greatly appreciated after a very stressful time at work.
We chose Faunbrook for its location near Longwood Gardens (about a 15 minute drive) as well as its easy access to the town center of West Chester where there are many interesting restaurants and night life (about 1 mile away).

Lori and Steve, the owners of Faunbrook, were very friendly and made a delicious breakfast for us each morning.

Faunbrook is a beautiful old house where you can enjoy the charm of a B&B but at the same time have enough room for privacy if that is your wish.

I would love to go back again.

My husband and I stayed here for 2 nights over Labor Day weekend. The B&B is a lovely historic home, and the new owners are amazingly conscientious and friendly. The home still has its historic details, and the grounds & porches are lovely. Our room (Rose's) was wonderful, despite being one of the simpler rooms at the B&B.

We used Faunbrook as a home base for two days of cycling in rural Chester county. Its location on the southwest side of town made it excellent for hopping on our bikes and getting out to the pretty country roads very quickly.

Breakfasts at the B&B were a great way to "fuel up" for these bike rides. The "Creme Brulee French Toast" was awesome!

In the evening, we enjoyed being able to walk into town for dinner in West Chester's restaurant district. It's close to West Chester University as well.

Lori & Steve also have a charming, well-behaved dog, who brightened our mornings & evenings when he let us pet him!

  • Liked — It's a tie: breakfast & the dog!
  • Disliked — it was all good...

Recently picked out this B&B largely from TripAdvisor reviews. We were headed to the West Chester area for a visit and thought it sounded nice. Excellent choice.

The place was clean, comfortable and lovely. The owners (who recently took over) are doing an excellent job and made us feel right at home. Breakfast was nice, and the whole atmosphere was great. The fact that the stairs creaked a little in this 19th century mansion just added to the fun.

About 15 minutes to Longwood Gardens, and just a few minutes drive to West Chester, which is a lovely little town with cool shops and good food.

Just a note -- this would not be a good place for people who have trouble climbing steps!

  • Liked — Sitting on the wrap around porch just relaxing.
  • Disliked — NA

The Faunbrook is beautiful, comfortable, enjoyable. It was a pleasure. Lori and Steve are terrific hosts, great cooks, and very kind and fun!

My daughter and I arrived with a challenge: NO CAR. We took a train to the city but with a few delays, we were too late to get the bus that would take us within a short walk of the property. They offered to pick us up from the Paoli train station, about a 20-minute drive each way. And Lori gave us a city tour on the ride back! Steve was happy to help us with the train and bus schedules, and used his own time and computer to do it. And when my ride to DC fizzled, Lori drove us once again to the Paoli train station.

The breakfast has two courses-fresh fruit, then a hot dish. First morning it was an omelette and bacon, the second morning it was a french toast cream-cheese creation that was magnificent.

We stayed in the Darlington room. Loved the fireplace and the chaise lounge. Appreciated the thick towels and hair dryer.

Two small points for improvement--we had a teensy trash can and didn't know where to recycle what was recyclable. Also I would love local food to the extent possible.

  • Liked — Its beauty and hosts' kindness
  • Disliked — trash management

My boyfriend and I stayed at Faunbrook for a one night stay. It is well run establishment with a charming owner. Pat provided a nice tour of the place, which was nicely decorated with Christmas spirit, and access to movies, books and even an after-dinner drink. Make sure you wake up on time for breakfast or you'll miss it but we still managed to get some fruit for our morning start. I recommend the very pretty Edith room.

This is a classic B&B. We stayed during Thanksgiving and were awed by the fall colors. Faunbrook is extremely well-run. The rooms are unique and clean. The decor and history of the house is intriguing and makes you feel special.

The owner/host was very kind to us and prepared wonderful breakfasts every morning - the smell of the food wafts up into the rooms to gently wake you from a good night's sleep. Copies of the morning papers were presented with coffee as we came downstairs for breakfast in the dining room.

This is a B&B, so your room is a bedroom in a home. As such, you will hear other guests in the halls. The stairs creak, but this gives the building a nice touch. Also, the home is next to a road - not noisy or busy, but you will hear cars drive by occasionally.

I would highly recommend this establishment.

Pat is the perfect host of this B&B, sensitive to the needs of her guests. You are truely made to feel at home in the elegant parlour and sitting room. We had the huge Darlington room with a very comfortable 4 post bed and many thoughtful extras such as DVD player and library of disks. There is good sized bath room with a shower (but not a tub).
Breakfast is home cooked and various and served when you want it.
West Chester is a lovely old town and a good base for local attractions. We stayed a few days after some time in Philly and it was a great contrast.
There is a relaxing wooded garden around the property that provides shade and privacy from the road (which can get a bit busy at times).
