We love this restaurant for both the food and the view. We were here in early May when most restaurants on Block Island had not yet opened for the vacation season.
We were seated in a comfortable booth with a view of the ocean across the veranda and the lawn. The restaurant is on the first floor of a magnificent old hotel that evokes images of the gilded age of a century ago. It's a picturesque sight as the ferry approaches from the mainland. It's even better up close.
The food was fresh, tasty, and well-presented. Of course, we had seafood - which our waitress assured us had been caught that very day by local fishermen. The dessert choices were limited but attractive. We lingered quite a while in the unhurried atmosphere.
