“Get new pillows”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 September 2013

This is a very average hotel. Nothing horrible, nothing great. Well, maybe the pillows are horrible. The staff was very nice, the location good, the room was relatively clean, just old and somewhat rundown. Pillows and mattress poor. Lighting poor in the room. The room was big and had a couch as well as desk. All I can say is average.

Ok, I have read some questionable reviews too. Its not the Ritz. It doesn't claim to be.
It is safe. Its convenient to Newport (3 miles),lots of restaurants, supermarkets (across the street),ice cream stores etc. It has parking. It does have a breakfast in the morning of coffee, juice, bagels, pancakes etc. Again its not the Ritz. If you want a bigger breakfast go to Ihop down the street (1.9 miles).
It is clean, the beds are comfortable, the A/c works. Its quiet. The hotel was full of kids, parents, and lots of young athletes. I am a light sleeper. I hate noise. I didn't hear anything...and I tried to.
Bathroom was pretty clean. Few little ugly spots but nothing to even think about. I am just picky.
The shower was just ok. they could use some more water pressure. The pool is ok. Its small, Didn't use it, because the beach is down the street (3-4 miles).
By the way Newport is 3-4 miles straight down the street from the hotel. Easy ride. Maybe take you 15-25 minutes with traffic. There are shortcuts the staff will tell you and you can cut that down in half..just ask them
The rooms were big. May have just done them over. Stayed there with family including two teenagers. Plenty of room.
The staff if very friendly, very personable. They were great. Ask them for anything, you will get it. Couldn't have been nicer and the place was jumping (quietly too).
I would stay there again. Price was fair. Staff was excellent, and we always felt safe.

Room Tip: Ask for a newer room with great water pressure

My boyfriend and I stayed at this hotel over the 4th of July weekend. We booked this hotel because the rooms were fairly priced and the location was close to Newport. Unfortunately the hotel was not what we thought it was going to be. The room we had stayed in kept making noises all throughout the night. The walls made knocking noises, it sounded as if someone was on the roof, we could hear the people in the room next door talking. Also, the air condition in the room would not stay on (which would have been convenient to cover up the other noises). Then as if things couldn't get worse, the fire alarm went off on our last morning there. As for the continental breakfast, the food was also not very good. The pancakes tasted like air and there was not much food to choose from. For paying $150.00 per night, i expected much more of this hotel. Instead i was left disappointed and I would never stay at this hotel again.

Room Tip: Rooms in the back have more privacy and a nice balcony.

Good value when visiting Newport if you don't want to spend a lot to stay in Newport itself. The room was large and comfortable, very clean, and well-cared for. We skipped the breakfast that came with the room but other guests seemed to take advantage of it. The staff is terrific, very accommodating and pleasant. It is only a short drive into Newport and there are many routes from the hotel. The hotel is on a major commercial highway filled with chain restaurants, gas stations and stores. We stayed a week and didn't regret our choice for a moment.

Room Tip: rooms on second floor have balconies; best to have a room in the back so you are not facing the park...

For what I expected from a modestly-priced hotel room on the Aquidneck Island, I thought this place hit a home run! The room was newly remodeled; clean, modern & colorful. My room was on the second floor so I had a nice, little private balcony off of it, which I used frequently.

The staff was very friendly and accomodating and it appeared to be familiy-owned which is always nice. I will definitely be going back this summer.

My husband and I were very happy with our room and the entire facility. It was very clean and nicely decorated, the beds were comfortable, and it was quiet. The staff was polite and friendly. There was a nice breakfast available in the morning. We couldn't ask for anything more. We will be going back.

Disregard old reviews about smelly carpets. New carpeting and new furniture in the room. We stayed on the second floor and it was very quiet. Continental breakfast could have been better. I thought the location was as good as other places charging $100 more a night.
