“We'll return! Beautiful location.”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 November 2009

Room was large & clean with separate sitting area. Yes, it was a bit dated and there is no elevator. For the price, though, it was a great value & we'll return. I'm glad I saw all the other reviews AFTER I booked the reservation. It's a great winter getaway.

Did our usual roll into town without a reservation and see what is available. Looked at about a 1/2 dozen properties and the Atlantic House was definitely the best of the bunch in terms of price and location.

I don't understand some of the negative reviews as all aspects of the hotel were quite acceptable. Room was clean and comfortable and the building centrally located. Coffee and newspapers in the morning.... and a really nice 2nd floor patio for all to share.

Only negative is that the balcony was a bit small and "confining" but at least one could go outside from the room.

When we arrived the clerk at the desk was nice but just finished checking us in and gave us our keys. She nerver told us where are room was but we figured it out when we saw it was in the tow hundreds. When we came down for coffee both days it was not ready and this was after 8:00. Our screen door fell off the hinge also but thatnks god my husband has a brain he fixed it.

We were in town for a wedding last night and this was the only place with rooms available--now I know why. This was the worst place I have ever stayed. In fact, we were sure we had the wrong place when we pulled up because the property was so shabby ad unkempt it looked like it was abandoned.

The entire place smelled moldy and stale. We were told the room had two queen size beds; apparently the pull-out couch counted as one. When the couch was open, you could hardly move around the room it was so small. It was impossible to get to the mini fridge or the A/C unit without climbing over the people trying to sleep. There was food and dirt all over the room floors, the lawn was littered with beer bottles and cigarettes, and only half the light bulbs actually worked. The view was the only thing working for this establishment, although the private balconies were badly splintered and in desperate need of new paint, and the public balcony didn't have any lights so you couldn't enjoy it after the sun went down. It was convenient to be so close to the wedding reception hall, but when we were returned back at 1am, the premise was very poorly lit and didn't feel very safe. At 11am this morning, the cleaning man was very rude nearly pushed his way past me to get into the room, insisting that we should be gone although we had repeated tried explaining to him that we requested and were granted a later check-on upon arriving. The front desk attendant was friendly enough, but wasn't very knowledgeable about the surrounding area.

If the room was priced more appropriately, I would not have complained, but I was amazed that they had the nerve to charge over $200 for one night! It was certainly not worth more than $70, maybe $80. I would NEVER stay at this place again and would urge others to seriously consider making the long drive back to wherever they came from before staying one night in this hotel.

This has to be the worst place we have ever been to. It was so bad, we checked in, then checked out. Very old and no up dates. Ripped carpets, Stained ceiling tiles. The key to our room did not work and it took 2 attempts back down to the front desk before the clerk would come up and help. Oh I forgot, no elevator either. You have to lug your things up 2 flights to get to the rooms. Once they were finally able to open the door, which was broken, It was a disgrace. Windows were so dirty and the place smelled. They attempted to show us another room which was worst then the first one. To top it off, they were going to charge us $189 ! We looked around and said no thanks. We were able to get a room at there other site down the road, which was 100% better, but still not great. This place should be closed down. I would rather sleep in my car.

was told we booked "the penthouse" 3rd floor 2 bedroom 2 bath suite. first of all, we had to hike up 3 flights of stairs with all our lugge (which took 3 trips). we booked this room because it has a full kitchen, which we needed to cook for a family gathering the next day. at first, the room seemed OK. old but bathroom was clean. upon waking up the next day found out there were mice in the room! We went to the front desk to complain(nicely) and found them very accomidating. we got our money back without a fuss. seemed to us that they knew there was a plroblem

I feel badly writing a negative review because the people are very nice, but the hotel is really too shabby and not clean. We didn't bother going on the balcony because the screen was a pain in the neck to open and close. It wasn't worth the hassle. I brought my own spray cleaner and paper towels to clean the bathroom. I was dealing with it and was ready to chalk it up to a regular "not so clean" hotel room, but then we used the towels. They were stained and one actually had a booger on it! That was it for me. I figured if the towels don't come clean in the laundry, then the sheets wouldn't either. I didn't sleep a wink! It is a beautiful view of the ocean, but the rotten window sills and shabby frame for the view ruin it. It would be incredible if it had a complete overhaul. The location is terrific. Even though it's a walk to the beach and village, it's very enjoyable to walk around. I wish the hotel was nicer and cleaner. I will not stay here again.
