Galito Restaurant is a jewel tucked into Pawtucket near McCoy Stadium. The Portuguese food was well prepared, moderately priced and they had a great selection of Portuguese wine. Check out their menu, there is something there for everyone!
I ordered the Frango No Churrasco which is a spiced barbecued Cornish Hen served with rice in a butter garlic sauce. Others enjoyed a special, which was a grouper and two had the Carne de Porco À Alentejana which is marinated pork loin, cubed fries and little neck clams. Everything was prepared to perfection. What a find!

Okay, Pawtucket itself has seen better days... and the neighborhood that Galito is in is nothing to brag about... but I found myself eating here one night and it was very good. Considering I am not typically a big fan of ethnic food, I really enjoyed this experience and look forward to going back. I had a full meal, including soup, an appetizer for the table, and my entree. The food was hot, fresh, and delicious. Adding to the quality of the food was the service. We were treated like family, friendly and welcoming and very helpful since we were new to Portuguese food. The only thing taking away from the experience was the neighborhood itself and the outside appearance of this restaurant. Once inside, it was great ambience, great food, and great service. I absolutely plan to go back.

We attended a family gathering at Galito's and our group included family visiting from Ireland. The restaurant staff stepped up "big time" with their ability to handle a table of 30 without difficulty. The owners provided a special menu selection of favorite items to help accommodate the group and not overwhelm the kitchen. The offerings were terrific. For starters, we had family-style tureens of Portuguese soup and fresh bread, followed by individual salad servings. Our table was represented by all age levels and the service was remarkable...a dizzying army of servers provided quick attention to drink orders, pitchers of soda and the food was presented efficiently. Everyone was served hot plates at the same time..nicely done! It certainly isn't easy accommodating a table so large with such efficiency.

I ordered the steak which was served with a fried egg and vinegar pepper topping and a heaping portion of thinly sliced fried potatoes. You can request the dish served without the egg. But, I went with it as suggested and it was very good....a great combination of flavors. W were presented with a tray sampling of desserts to choose from and each offering looked terrific. I chose the almond cake and it was very good as well. A number of people topped off the meal with coffee, espresso, etc.

It was a great evening and We were pleased with the opportunity to gather, socialize and relax with family. Galito's took care of everything, allowing us the time casual atmosphere that was very much appreciated. And, this was all accomplished at reasonable prices... Looking forward to a return visit when the Pawtucket Red Sox return to the neighborhood.
