“A Real Coffeehouse!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 March 2014

I came in here for the first time in March 2014 and was quite impressed by what I found. This is definitely a coffeehouse and I bet the first Starbucks resembled the Coffee Depot. Its to be found in an older building, and has some relics of its past use in its abundance of wall and ceiling outlets, probably one every two feet (which is very close by even contemporary standards). The paneled walls and high ceiling is nice. There is comfortable seating in various forms: high top bar seating by the windows, pairs of comfortable chairs, four and six person tables.

I bought a coffee (I had limited cash so I couldn't buy anything else - nor am I one to use an ATM machine because of those fees) and was asked whether I wanted it to go in a cup or for here which is served in a nice porcelain mug. The mug is large enough to wrap both hands around it in that "warming your hands" type of look. The coffee was very good. I also liked how they offered clean spoons to mix the sugar and cream in (far better than throwing out those wooden stirrers).

The atmosphere was interesting at coffee depot, and might have a few nods to the other reviews mentioned here. I would say the mood of the space was FAR different from any other coffee place I had been in. This could be a good trait or a bad trait depending on how you look at it. Everywhere I looked there were people working, reading, or talking together; but the mood of the space just felt intellectual. There were two couples talking and just the air of the place made it seem like there was groundbreaking things to be talked about.

If you didn't bring a book or something to do with you, Coffee Depot provides books, newspapers and magazines for the customers to read, and even pens if you forgot one; which is a very nice feature. Basically, I would recommend Coffee Depot for the coffee and the nice space but would recommend bringing cash and perhaps something to do if you are staying with your coffee.

“Good, But Messy”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 November 2013

The coffee was Great! Even bought some beans from the roaster they use to go.. But the place was just everywhere, loud & messy. Next time I will just take to go. Not a relaxing atmosphere & Cash only... Did not like that.

“Unless you enjoy rude snobs, avoid this place”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 August 2013 via mobile

I'll give credit where it's due: the coffee is pretty good (but far from the best), certainly better than dunkin donuts, and the shop itself is very cute and quaint. Unfortunately the staff there ruin it. Talk about a bunch of rude, snobby, self-important jerks. And there's an ATM there. Really? This is the 21st century, people. The ATM has an outrageous fee, and since they own it, they keep the fee. So if you do go, bring cash.

It's a shame such a nice place has to be ruined by horrible management and staff. It's got a lot of potential, but the ownership will need to change hands first. The manager, Mary, is the ice queen of rudeness, and she thinks very highly of herself. Perhaps that rubbed off on the poorly trained "baristas" as well, because they think they are world class baristas, but in reality, they aren't much more talented than your average dunkin donuts cashier.

Honestly, with so many better options within driving distance, I'm glad I never have to go in there again. But I will keep my eye on it to see if the owners ever sell it to someone who knows how to run a cafe and they fire everyone and staff it properly. Only then will I go back.

“Nice Cozy Place”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 January 2013

Stopped in here for coffee with a friend. It is a cash only place however they do have an ATM available inside. Coffee was reasonably priced and tasted great, had pastries and other small goodies available as well so it's great for a snack. They had some fun local RI things to buy too, at the time they had ornaments available for sale. Quaint place, tables have fun art/collages under them with a random assortment of stuff. You can tell a lot of locals frequent this place. If I lived closer to Warren I'd be apt to come here to do homework/studying/hang out.
