Locals know that Eli Dunn was the chef at the Beehive, a wonderful little eatery in nearby Bristol, RI. But now he has opened up his own place on Market St. In Warren, RI. My wife and I have been there twice - once for lunch and once for dinner- and everything about the place was great.
There is some comfort food (Eli is known for his meatloaf) but also there are more unusual dishes - scallops with sausage and spring vegetables; baked goat cheese. Eli said he envisioned the place a neighborhood place and the informal atmosphere fits the bill. There is even a "local" beer (Narragansett) for $3 for 12 ounces to make the point. On Fridays fish and chips are on the menu to honor the chefs mother who ran a similar type establishment called Phoebe's a number of years ago.
The restaurant is a couple of doors down from the also local 2nd Story Theater so making an evening of it is a real possibility. Too bad because the size they don't yet accept reservations.
Try it you'll like it. The Beehive's loss is our gain.
