“Go for the Bar”
Reviewed 8 August 2014

I like the Haversham but you have to be prepared for the environment, especially on weekends. It is loud. Really loud and not just in the bar. Our waitress had to yell to take our order and we were in the dining area separate from the bar, although they are adjacent. They remodeled recently to make the bar area larger so you can see what their emphasis is. That said, the food is either decent, good or really good. The soups are great: onion, chowder, bisque, all really, really good. The ribs are tasty, but after ordering them twice, I sense a trend: not meaty. I ordered the lobster risotto the last time I was there and this may sound strange, but there was too much stuff and not enough rice. Risotto is a dish that requires balance in the ingredients: the main starch can't be missing in action. The other's in the party had the ribs (meat lacking yet again), the clams and a lobster roll. The house made chips were crunchy, but heavy on the batter and light on the potato. If they could even out the rough edges, although they have been open long enough to have done that already, they could get a better rating. And look into some sound absorbing furnishing, it is LOUD.

“Lunch With Friends”
Reviewed 5 August 2014

Food was OK.... just ordered appetizers fried calamari, clams... . etc. Same batter was used for everything.... not a difference if flavor or texture.
Also very loud... not a place to carry on a conversation.

“An excellent experience”
Reviewed 3 August 2014

Our forth or fifth visit and it only gets better. The grounds are beautiful with water features and outdoor dining available amongst the flowers and on the gazebo. The indoor seating is divided into two dining rooms and a large tavern area with tables, bar seating and lots of active LCD sports screens. The staff is terrific: Friendly, helpful, cheerful and very attentive without being obtrusive. The food is very good. The menu is advertised as pub fare but understates the options: Salads, burgers, sandwiches and special appetizers plus pizzas, steaks, chicken. The clam chowder is superb, loaded with clams. Deep fried bear battered haddock is easily 3/4 of a pound. Steak tips highly recommended. Quesadillas, either seasoned chicken or steak with three dips. This is priced as an appetizer for $9.99. It can be a meal in itself. A glass of wine really is a glass of wine rather than a large burgundy glass filled at your table with a flare from a mini carafe (thimble sized). The owners circulate making sure everyone is well served. The rumor is that they will prepare most any dish for you if they have the ingredients and you call ahead. We have never been disappointed and intend to keep the Haversham on our small list of best restaurants. Did I mention that given the quality of the facility, the staff and the food it would be near impossible to duplicate the competitive prices.

“Beautiful grounds, average food”
Reviewed 29 July 2014

We had dinner at the Haversham Tavern after reading mixed reviews on Yelp, but decided to give them a try as it was local to where we were. The overall experience was OK with some of the food pretty good and other items average, as best. The only problem with that is that I don't know the menu and which items are good or not so it will be tough to go back especially since there are other very good local restaurants.
The atmosphere feels like two separate restaurants as the high top tables in the bar area are lively and fun and the front room is like a retirement home. The wall separating the rooms need to be taken down and replaced with all high tops.

“Our first visit”
Reviewed 26 July 2014

After a suggestion, we visited the Haversham. Very busy, but well managed bar/restaurant. Found the games on several big screens and the patrons a friendly bunch. We were constantly waited on and had a fine meal. Found the drink and food prices very reasonable.
We decided to eat at the bar but there were several intimate tables for a romantic evening.
We will be returning with friends.
