This is a beautifully restored property on the water in Rhode Island. It is a top notch operation from check in to check out. As you arrive, the doorman greets you and asks you your name and brings you to reception and introduces you. As you register, your bags are wisked to your room. You are offered a glass of champagne by the polished and uniformed reception staff and then given a tour of the Inn and taken to your room. Ours was a unique, sunny room on the third floor. Since this is a gratuity free Inn, no need to tip the door man, housekeeping, etc.. it is covered by the $26. resort fee. I don't care for resort fees, but at least here it has that upside. Our room was spotless, water pressure was excellent, towels were fluffy, wifi was good. They have a 24 hour guest pantry offering hot and cold beverages and snacks. Mugs are on a warming shelf - just an example of the attention given to detail here. There are various common areas to relax in and enjoy. The fitness room is in a detached building, just a short walk outside, but you do need to go outside. It is rather small and there are no TV monitors, but the exercise machines do face the water and pool area, so at least you have something to look at. By the way, there are no TV's in the room, but one can be requested. Breakfast is included and is delicious with some very interesting choices, excellent service, nice presentation and a view of the water. In additon to the cooked entree, you can help yourself from a buffet of fresh fruit, yogurt, cereals and pastries.
They offer various activities; bicycles with helmets are at the ready outside and they have an on site naturalist who conducts tours and gives talks. It is right on the water and the beach is just a short and pleasant walk away. This is really a wonderfully restored property, modern, yet it retains the old fashioned feel of a refined ocean retreat. It abounds in history which can be relived through many books and pictures throughout the Inn. A great getaway.
