We choose the Cuthbert House Inn because of the favorable reviews on TripAdvisor and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. In fact, we stayed an extra day due to the charm of the inn and the hospitality of the hosts, Mary Ann and Jeff. Mary Ann met us at the door when we arrived and showed us several different rooms but we decided on the Victoria Room due to it's size and the view of the waterway from the bedroom and bathroom. The Inn is just blocks from the waterfront so it was perfect because my wife was suffering from tendonitis in her foot. We had an opportunity to visit with Mary Ann and Jeff and another couple from NC during the mixer between 5-6 which included beverages and snacks and they recommended a resturant which served some of the most delicious seafood we have ever tasted (11th Street Dockside in Port Royal). Ask Jeff to show you the names of the Union Soldiers which are etched into the mantel on the fireplace in the East Lake Suite. Breakfast was eggs benedict one morning and belgium waffles the next. We were also served fresh fruit, juice and coffee as well. The dining room is comfortable but not cramped. Again, you can view the waterway from the dining room. The parking is off street and you walk through a small formal garden when you enter the back of the Inn. We also took a day trip to Hunting Island State Park which is approx. a 20 minute drive so very convenient if you choose to go to one of the barrier islands in the area. My wife and I penciled in Beaufort, SC on our itenerary when we were doing research for our trip from Jacksonville to Charleston. After more investigation, we were convinced it would be a pleasant diversion from Savannah and Charleston and we were not disappointed!
