“First Time B&B”
Reviewed 18 December 2006

Upon arrival we were greeted by Jeff and shown around the common areas of the Inn. He then showed us to our room and presented us with a small bottle of champagne to commemorate our anniversary. We stayed in the Federal room upstairs. The room was a very nice size with a comfortable bed, TV/VCR/DVD, gas fireplace and full bathroom. The only negatives were that upon arrival the room smelled damp and there was mildew surrounding the air vents. In addition, the bathroom could use some new towels. Jeff made us reservations at Saltus for dinner, which was excellent. In the morning we woke to hot coffee and a delicious breakfast. Jeff was also a gracious photographer. Overall it was a nice night away.

We had a wonderful time during our stay at the Cuthbert Inn. The house is beautiful, and the staff is friendly and very helpful. Our room was immaculate and well appointed, and the breakfasts were great. Beaufort itself is a great little town full of history and charm. There are also many appealing restaurants and shops within walking distance from the Inn. If you enjoy the beach, Hunting Beach is a 20 minute drive, and it's well worth the trip.
Overall, I would highly recommend the Cuthbert Inn as well as Beaufort for a nice get away.

We could not have been happier with our experience at the Cuthbert House Inn. The house was already beautiful and the new innkeepers are continuing to improve it. It has a beautiful balance of historical accuracy and gentle, elegant comfort in both its interior and exterior. A clean and neat and very well cared for property.
Breakfasts were varied and excellent over the four day stay.
Jeff and Mary Ann also create the perfect balance of warm helpfullness and non intrusiveness. You feel very welcome there. I watched them interact beautifully with many and varied people.
Views are just wonderful. Sunrise and sunset were stunning.
Several wonderful places to eat in walking distance.
Much better than Hilton Head for a quiet, lovely and historically interesting place to stay.

We just got back from the Cuthbert House Inn relaxed. refreshed and soooo Happy! The owners Jeff and MaryAnn were so gracious. We truly felt like we were the only guests there and yet I know they had a full house. We knew nothing about the area and relied on their knowledge of where we should hangout and where the best seafood was. Boy did they send us in the right directions. Our dinners at the 11street Dockside were some of the very best we have ever had. The Hunting Island State Park is the most Beautiful Park we have ever visited. We did not want to leave! The Inn was Lovely and the food was a taste of heaven. We will definetly go back and hopefully our family and friends will have the oppurtunity to do the same. Go Enjoy Relax Eat See the sights!!!! We did'nt get a chance to go on one of the many histortic tours, but we did our own walking tour of the beautifull downtown area. So much to see and yet at the same time your spellbound at the beauty and history that surrounds you. It was in the high 90's but the steady breeze from the water kept us cool and comfortable while we walked. While we were there we also got to see a Beautifull full Marine Military Wedding! It was a spectacular sight to see. Go to the Cuthbert House Inn and visit with Jeff and MaryAnn and you will leave knowing you have had the best the EAST COAST has to offer!!!!

Had a mother/daughter trip to Cuthbert Inn in May- just felt like we were more of an inconvince! Had to wait several minutes to be let in the door, then the innkeeper was called away for several more minutes just as he was taking us on the tour and explaining inn policy, etc. Asked for the bikes so we could bke around the town- he forgot to put them outside, so we had to return to room to call him. Had to ask for restaurant suggestions and then just got a verbal listing- didn't sound like he was real familar with some of them- did not offer to make reservations. Breakfast was ok- noticed other table had to ask for a glass of juice- we were not offered any until we asked. All in all just seemed kind of unfriendly and perhaps stingy for the price we paid. No replacement of bottled water (2- 8 ounce bottles in room) or ammenities in bathroom (soap, shampoo, etc).. Air conditioning in our room was not set very high when we got there- he adjusted that, but it took several hours to feel comfortable. Probably not worth the $200+ per night that we paid including taxes. We had just stayed two nights at the Hayne House in Charleston and this was just not up to Hayne House standards!

We had the pleasure of spending 3 nights there this past weekend May 18-20 and were simply overwhelmed with the charm of this great home. Situated right on the beautiful Beaufort Riverfront, the views from the porches were stunning. The suites were spacious and beautifully decorated. Even better, the innkeepers were most accommodating, providing a great meal each morning and all of the little perks that you don't expect -- bikes for two couples as well as a stack of beach towels and beach chairs for an impromptu trip to the nearby beach. Jeff and Mary Ann were great hosts and we can't wait to return!

This is a beautiful B&B!! Jeff is an extraordinary host attending to every detail guests could ever want. It is obvious he loves his job.

The nightly wine and conversation was a great way to meet others staying at the inn. The location is great and one can see everything by just walking. The walking tour with John Sharp is a must for anyone going to Beaufort.

The rooms at the inn are decorated beautifully and the breakfasts that are served are very good too. It would be a shame to come to Beaufort and not stay at the Cuthbert House.
