Summary of review: I would recommend this B&B.
It is a nice B&B located in a very affluent neighborhood, right on the intercostal waterway. You can walk around the neighborhood which is just lovely. The waterfront view is amazing - dolphins galore.
The rooms themselves are clean, well kept, and not cluttered. The style is eclectic and "homey" - not everything matches but that is part of its charm. We stayed in Room 3 which is the BEST view probably... has a hammock on the private porch. It also has a large, tiled bathroom with a double sink and separate toilet/shower room.
The indoor communal area is clean, well kept, but a bit cluttered (in a good way and ordered way in my opinion). I felt like it was as though I were visiting an museum. The walls are lined with miniature toys, dolls, and all sorts of interesting/eclectic collectibles - all grouped into their own category of sorts. The are a few games and puzzles which we enjoyed.
The outdoor communal area is very nice and relaxing. We were the ONLY ones during our two night stay so we enjoyed non-interrupted relaxation int he outdoor space. If there were other visitors, we would have our own balcony to go back to (again, this is room 3, not all rooms have private balcony). I will say that the communal patio furniture was a tad old but it was in relatively good condition and we enjoyed it nonetheless. Some of the other reviews called it dirty and and old - I would disagree. It is like outdoor furniture you find in someones own home - used but useable and still in decent shape.
The owner, Diane, is just lovely. I would equate her to your lovable and a bit quirky aunt. She is well-traveled, interactive, and talkative. Her breakfast is incredible and she will sit down and eat with you. She is flexible and accommodating - she made breakfast early for us one day because we had to head out early.
I knock off one star because this B&B is not for everyone - we loved its charm and the owner, Diane, but if you are looking for an immaculate/new property or if a little clutter will bother you, this may not be the place for you. This B&B is just like visiting your older aunt who will take good care of you, chat with you, and feed you good food!! Definitely felt like we were staying in a family home and it was great for us.
Oh - and she gives a military discount! $10 off!More
