Four of us took the tour one afternoon. There were only ones on the tour so we were not cramped and were able to interact with the guide. Our guide was very knowledgeable of local history. While she did have somewhat of a set script, she was able to stray a little and provide additional information and answer questions. The tour was well worth the $18 ticket.

While we were waiting for a couple of hours before we could check in to our hotel room, we decided to take the horse and carriage historic tour of Beaufort. It turned out to be a good decision. The weather was perfect and there was a lot of shade trees covering the streets during the tour. The young lady conducting the tour had a very good sense of humor and provide a lot of interesting info all along the tour. It's only an hour long tour, but it's well worth the $18 per person to enjoy it.

Our 1hr ride through historic Beaufort was enjoyable and informative. Our tour guide (from Massachusetts) was historically accurate and provided a lot of interesting facts about the local economy, culture, and history of Beaufort. Perhaps, it was my perception, but the horse seemed to be walking really, really slow. I am not sure if that's normal, I certainly don't think anything was wrong with the horse at all, I guess I just expected it to move along at a faster pace. I enjoyed the tour, thanks to a great guide and beautiful weather.

Our guide was very knowledgeable and fun. The horse was great too. He knew when the traffic lites were red, he should stop and when they turned green he should go. Very funny. Gave a great account of the history of the area including interesting little tidbits such as why the houses faced south...to catch the prevailing winds to cool their homes (and also to turn their backs on the north). The horse moved slowly enough to allow us to take photos of the gorgeous antebellum mansions. A great way to spend an hour.

This was our first time with this carriage tour company. They had tours leaving at a good pace so it was convenient and we hardly waited. The horse was slow which was good as we got A LOT of history and information during the tour. After the tour, we walked or drove to some of the points of interest that we wanted to see more of. If you are a new visitor to Beaufort, this is the best way to get a first look.
