We loved it ,BUT, we love dining out of the ordinary. Food was delicious, well prepared and beautfully presented. The owner worked the floor and clearly made you feel welcome and appreciated.
The menu changes daily to accomadate fresh ingredients. One of our friends dining with us, is a recognized wine expert and was literally wowed by the Italian wine. We will be back.

After finally finding the place (NO SIGN). We found a note on the front door stating that only those with confirmed reservations would be allowed in that evening. As we had one we went in only to find no other customers. Our party of four was seated and we began looking over the two-page menu. One page of food items and one full page of warnings and extra charges that could be incurred. No free refills on ANY drinks, bread ONLY SERVED with one particular dish, portions were to be small, everything was separate (4-5 courses were to be ordered to complete a full meal, corkage fee would be $35.00 per small bottle of your own wine if you brought any with you, etc, etc. A quick look at the food menu indicated one could expect to drop about $150.00 per person that evening. We left without finding out just how special this food was supposed to be but they sure were proud of it.

There's really no question about it, Griffin Market is the best restaurant in this area. It's not even close. The owner and chef are thoughtful in their preparations and selections of food and wine.

Wine is broken down into categories so that you can easily make a selection to go with your meal: light, full bodied, goes with meat, goes with seafood, goes with everything, etc. Not only that, but if you still have questions, the owner (also our waiter) will further assist you in finding the right wine to go with your food.

We visited on a Sunday night, which is prix fixe night. It's a very reasonable $36 and the food was fantastic. We began with appetizers - they bring you 3. Then you choose one of three selections for your primi, secondi and dessert.

If you see the tagliatelle with pecorino, parmiggiano and truffle oil, GET IT. It's fabulous. We also enjoyed a vegetarian option (zucchini with golden raisins and Carolina Gold rice) as well as a fish (can't remember the name), but it was all fabulous. The portion size is perfect. You will not feel overly stuffed at the end of the night.

For desserts we had the caramel budino with salted caramel sauce and the zabaglione. The budino was out of this world. I would have never ordered this, so what a treat to find something new to enjoy. Now I just need that recipe!

Thank you, Griffin Market, for a perfect meal. We'll most definitely be back, and we'll recommend you to anyone we know who is traveling to Beaufort.

When making a reservation you would expect to be seated within a certain time frame. We were given a reservation time and they weren't even open. It was the only time we were given. We finally got seated and surprisingly we were the only ones there for at least 45 minutes. The food was okay. When we left the place was pretty much still empty. If your going to be slow at least give other time frames for a reservation.

I live in Beaufort part time and have had dinner at Griffin Market many times. I have eaten alone, with just my wife(when she visits Beaufort), and several times with business partners and clients. I always have high confidence when bringing guests to this fantastic restaurant. Never disappoints and in fact gets better each time I go. I think its because my expectations for the food and the dinning experience at this restaurant is very high, and it lives up each time. Or maybe it is because I trust Ricardo so much now, that I ask him what I should have and please serve the wine that goes best with the 4 courses.
It is classified as an Italian Restaurant, but it is cooking with love and happiness that separates Griffin Market. Take your time and enjoy your evening.
