We had a one night stay at the Rhett House Inn and so wished it could have been longer! Our traveling was flexible, but the weather was not co-operating (rain) on our first visit to Beaufort. Otherwise, we definitely would have stayed another night or two. The only reason we gave a lower rating on the rooms was because the a/c was a bit on the cold side, but the cozy bed made up for it.The staff was EXCELLENT from Maurice's professionalism on the phone to Yvonne's check-in and Ashley's help with recommendations. I can't remember the person's name (originally from Indianapolis) who was in the kitchen, but it was like being home when we had dessert sitting at the kitchen table and chatting with her about the area. The refreshments, cheeses, homemade desserts, and of course, the breakfast were delicious. Kateesha (sp?) who served us breakfast was so helpful and gracious with information and history. Thanks to the chef who shared his wonderful grits recipe. Not one single minute did we wish we had booked another place! Beaufort has moved ahead of Charleston in our travels now and the Rhett House Inn will be the place we will stay many times over.

We reserved three rooms here in anticipation of our son's graduation from Bootcamp at Parris Island. The Inn with its history and beautiful grounds should have been the ideal location for anyone willing to spend the money. We stayed in Room 7 on the ground floor and had another two rooms across the street in another beautiful house which belongs to the inn. Those rooms were spacious, beautifully decorated, and each had its own second story private porch under the palm trees. Room 7 in the main building, however, kept us awake each night from feet trappling overhead. And the dead cockroach in the middle of the floor outlasted our own two night stay. But the "breakfast wars" were even more off-putting than a dead cockroach.

A month earlier, when I reserved our rooms over the phone with a very nice gentleman named Maurice, he raved about the gourmet breakfast we would enjoy, then promised us a Continental breakfast instead when I told him we would be leaving the inn early each morning. (The written confirmation sent to us also said, "Continental breakfast is available starting at 7:30 a.m. with advanced notice.) When we checked in, I also confirmed that a Continental breakfast would be there for us the next morning. When we showed up for breakfast the next morning, the kitchen staff (who were preparing several breakfast trays) flatly informed us, "There is no continental breakfast, except for our guests who are "disabled". When I later told Maurice of my experience, I gathered that there is a rift between the front desk employees and the folks in the kitchen and we'd been caught in the middle. No effort was made to correct the situation or reimburse us for the breakfast we'd counted on, so we drove to a restaurant.

Although this was obviously the premier location in a beautiful old town that has more antebellum homes than Charleston, fewer tourists, and just as much atmosphere, I'll stay somewhere else next time.

We intended to stay only one night, but it was so nice and comfortable, we stayed an extra night. We loved our room. A/C was quiet, gas fireplace, comfortable bed, big bathroom, great location. Housekeeping was the most accomodating and as friendly as they could be. Enjoyed the breakfast, afternoon cookies and hors d'oeuvres (cheese and crackers), and champagne. They also provided us with beach chairs and towels. They had bikes that we could ride around town also (free). I would definitely go back and stay longer next time I'm on vacation in SC. Tip: Ride out to Hunting Island State Park. It's quiet and beautiful, nice breeze on a hot day. Ocean water was very warm.

Beautiful B & B. Large front porch to eat breakfast outside. Get the room off of the kitchen - room 10. Large bathroom with jacuzzi tub, king size bed, private screened in porch and separate entrance from the house. Grounds are lovely too.

A great place to stay if your going to Beaufort. We had beautiful rooms, very clean ,a great staff and a great southern breakfast .Afternoon drinks and deserts. We thoroughly enjoyed breakfast on the balconies and the late afternoons under the enoromous oak moss laden trees The location was excellent just a block or so from the water front and local restaurants and shops A wonderful place to stay for a relaxed charming visit. Southern comfort and hospitality!

We will visit again

Beautiful, old & charming B&B! Great location, close to the waterfront and everything within walking distance. The southern breakfast each moring was fantastic and the evening desserts were a wonderful treat! The only miss was not serving sweet tea with the afternoon tea and cookies. When you're in the south you have to serve sweet tea! I would stay here again and have great memories!

I visited the town of Beufort with my mom, aunt, and cousin and stayed at the Rhett House Inn. Everyone was very friendly and helpful! We liked the way the rooms were decorated and private. The cleaning crew does an excellent job of keeping things spotless! Breakfast was delicious and the afternoon tea, lemonade, cookies, wine, and free dessert in the evening was an extra bonus. It was located in walking distance to the shopping area, restaurants, and water where one could watch the boats going by. We enjoyed our stay at the Rhett House Inn and would highly recommend it to others!
