“Great salads”

Okatie Creek Golf Club
Attraction details
Reviewed 2 December 2013

Although part of the Jameson's restaurant group now in Sun City, the Clubhouse offers a nice
diverse menu.
Open for breakfast, the selection is adequate and prices are reasonable.
Lunch offers a great selection of salads which are definitely large enough to share and
a good selection of sandwiches as well.
Dinner selection is somewhat limited, but the variety is enough to satisfy most.

Convenient spot in Sun City, far superior to it's counterpart Jameson's

The restaurant at the Club House at Okatie Creek once was operated by Bluffton's well known British Open Pub, but that group left at about the same time that the Jameson's Charhouse people took over the restaurant at Sun City's second golf course, Hidden Cypress. The Okatie Creek facility is now operated by Jameson's but has preserved the style and menu of the BOP, i.e., pub food like fish and chips, ribs, meatloaf, salads and so on. It's at least as good as it always was and is a terrific place to bring your visitors, to meet up with your friends and neighbors for a drink and some chow, or to hang out for a while with your golfing pals after 9 or 18 holes to discuss all of the shots you should have made, but didn't for one excuse or another. A few of us dropped in the other night without reservations to have a little dinner. No problem even though the place was pretty packed. Sipping on a very good Grey Goose martini, I had the pleasure of chatting with a half dozen or more of my friends from around the community... and this is one of the significant features of the place - enjoying the Sun City Lifestyle via social interaction. It's a "club house" after all. For dinner I had the small order of traditional ribs, fries and slaw, which were pretty much as good as they get, and competitive with other local joints, like Jim and Nick's. Same for the other items we had. Service was excellent. The drive home was short. Sure, there are a lot more places to patronize than there were a decade ago, but the Clubhouse is still an excellent choice, and I hope the place is well supported by the residents.

I visited the first week that The Clubhouse was open intending to check it out for a men’s breakfast group. I had a very disappointing breakfast with coffee grounds and runny eggs. It was a mistake to go in the first week and I knew it.

I returned with my wife today for breakfast and were impressed with the quality and pricing. Our eggs were cooked to perfection, the bacon crisp and the potatoes tasty ($6).

A review of the menu indicates that they are catering to the sandwich crowd, which is great since the other restaurant in our community is not.

The waitress was pleasant, well trained and attentive.

The British Open Pub is gone, and Jameson's will operate the restaurant soon. They now operate at Hidden Cyprus clubhouse.

Designed by Mark McCumber for its Sun City residents, here is a pretty but wide open, fairly easy course. Fairly flat, the course winds through tall pines. The 10th and 11th holes are very scenic. It has a nice clubhouse with the British Open Pub worth visiting. I'd recommend the other, more challenging course at the back of the property. Both get lots of play by residents in their own carts, but you might be able find a tee time. Have fun!
