My friend and I stayed here one night. We had a good rate, however we now know why. The breakfast area was directly above our room, so at the early hours you could hear people walking around, chairs moving. The breakfast was nice, nothing special, but nice view. A cruiseship had some in on Saturday, so there were a ton of people around. This Inn is a perfect location to get on the carriage tours, the market area. Not too many blocks from King St, where the shopping is. Lil Cricket is a convenience store if you need to bring snacks back to your room.
We did the haunted jail, but would not recommend it. The adjoining building had people working in it, lights on, people coming and going. Didn't really get any "scary" pictures or anything that looked like ghosts, but the stories were entertaining.
Can't comment much on food. We did not eat at any nice places. Had a late lunch at the Southend Brewery. Good crab cakes. The bars were packed, so we didn't go into any.
The front desk was friendly and had these yummy chocolate chip cookies with blue and white M&M's. (represent state flag) All the hotels we looked at were pricey in this area. Days Inn-friends stayed there last year and there were cockroaches in their room.

I live in SC so I have traveled more than my share of times to Charleston. But, this trip was the first one where I've stayed at the Andrew Pinckney Inn. I only stayed one night so I cannot speak much about the service. What was asked was answered quickly by the team. Charleston has a lot to offer in way of beautiful inns but everything books up quickly and this was one of the few inns that was available last notice and/or also allowed a one night booking on the weekend, which was great.

The Inn, itself, is located just a block from the Market. It's situated for easy access to all the fun things to do downtown. Walking is quite easy; so you can just park your car and leave it for the night. Speaking of parking, the Inn has very limited space so we had to park in the Bank of America parking lot, which wasn't an issue unless you have a lot of luggage that you would need to carry in.

The Inn is separated into two buildings with the bulk of the rooms across the street from the main building that houses the Lobby. The decor has the overall SC coast feel to it; very simple and beautiful. The room that I was in was very nice, if a bit small. But, with two of us, it didn't feel cramped. The restroom was a bit smaller than I would have liked, though. But, it had a large vanity. And, from my room, I had an excellent view of a traditional Charleston home so I couldn't complain.

The only real drawbacks to my stay was that I noticed a few small ants in my restroom the next morning but, being in the South and staying in an old building, it really didn't concern me overmuch. Also, the continential breakfast left a little to be desired, even though I knew that it was continential before we booked.

Overall, a really great place and, with the prices of other places similar in town, it was a great bargain.

Thanks for taking the time to share your comments for potential future guest. You certainly mentioned some wonderful attributes of the Andrew Pinckney Inn. Our great guest service, location of the Inn in the Historic District and unique historic features.

Because the Inn is housed in two century old buildings it makes for several of our rooms to be most charming and quaint with unique features such as exposed brick, original heart of pine floors and other features that vary from room to room. Why stay in an ordinary hotel when you can stay in a Historic Inn and experience the real feel and charm for one of America's oldest and most unique cities.

We hope that you will stay with us again in the future when you have more than one night to take in the sights and sounds of our beautiful city.

Best Regards,
Barry Hutto

I did an extensive study of all the places to stay in Charleston, and after reading all of the reviews we decided the Andrew Pinckney would fit our budget. We like small, quiet, historical inns, and were not disappointed. We were impressed with the way the management reads the TA reviews and remedies the problems mentioned by former customers. We found the inn to be very private, quiet, clean, with a helpful staff, beautiful heart pine floors, and a very romantic deck which you sit on for breakfast, but enjoy the view of the harbor and the lights of Charleston at night. Our first night was in a small but elegant room that had unexpected noise from the restaurant next door due to a St. Patrick's Day celebration. The next day the manager graciously set us up in one of the most beautiful and quiet rooms that we have ever been in. The people who work there are extremely helpful...you just have to ask. Cynthia served a wonderful continental buffet breakfast with various kinds of muffins, eggs, yogurts, fresh fruit salad, hot biscuits and gravy, cereal, coffee, tea, two juices (NO MORE FUNKY ORANGE JUICE!) and something extra each day. Cynthia is a very friendly gem and wealth of information. We loved the location, and yes, a few very expensive hotels were located right at the market place, but the Andrew Pinckney is still very close to everything...just far enough away (2 city blocks) to be in a quieter location. We took the money we saved by not staying in one of the expensive hotels and used it to eat out at the fabulous places that the staff suggested (French restaurant was fabulous!). Our stay was wonderful. Our beautiful room was in what some hot headed reviewer called "a cement box". It is pretty ugly outside (kept that way due to historical accuracy) but inside the rooms are very elegant with a dining lobby for breakfast and also with beautiful heart pine floors. Take the time to look at the gorgeous photos of the area that was criticised. You will enjoy this inn!

Thanks for taking the time to share your comments about your recent stay here at the Andrew Pinckney Inn. It is always great to hear that our entire staff went beyond expectations in making your stay a most pleasant one.

As you mentioned in your review we are fortunate to have such historical and distinquishing features at the Andrew Pinckney Inn as the heart of pine wooden floors, Rooftop Terrace with views of the Market Street area and Charleston Shipping Port. Along with a great location in the heart of the Historic District we have much to offer.

It is our goal to make the Andrew Pinckney Inn a special place for your getaways in a hectic and hurried world.

We were very pleased by the cleanliness and service at the Andrew Pinckney. The two-level ("Townhouse") suite we had for our wedding weekend was superb, and all the guests were very happy with their stay. The staff was very helpful. The only downside was that some of the interior rooms, on the inner ring of the hotel, were cramped.

Thanks so much for choosing the Andrew Pinckney Inn to be a part of such a special occasion. We appreciate you taking the time to share your comments with other future guest. It was great to hear that your wedding guest enjoyed their stay as well as yourself. We do have a few select smaller quaint rooms that are part of our queen room inventory. They do have charming features such as the heart of pine wooden floors, writing desk and beautiful bathroom vanities made specifically for the Andrew Pinckney Inn. Because of their size we do offer a more economical rate that is less than the traditional larger rooms and suites.

We hope to have you return possibly for one of your future anniversaries or another occasion.

Respectfully,
Barry Hutto

The Andrew Pinckney was a great experience.! We loved the upscale decor, the occasional exposure of old hardwood floors and brick, the beautiful flower boxes on the front, and the special attention Sandy (concierge) gave us when we needed a restaurant, directions, or anything for that matter. We found everything to be very, very clean and in good repair. We requested a quiet room when we made the reservation and we had no noise at all for our stay. We were in a Deluxe King room which you have to call and reserve as it is not available on the internet reservation site yet. It was very large and cost only a tiny bit more per night! I think one of the townhouse suites or the St. Philip's Suite would have been a super experience and hope to try them next time. The rooftop terrace was great. We had breakfast there and also used it at other times of the day for a gathering spot. The lobby is cozy and has a friendly feel and of course that's where Sandy is and all of his wonderful knowledge of "the best of Charleston". Coffee is always available there. Sometimes you'll even find fresh baked cookies. The Andrew Pinckney Inn is a wonderful, historical building in a great location that is within walking distance of the entire historical district. We loved it!

Picked this place out of my Streets and Trips program due to the location. (The internet access was out where I was staying and I needed a room for the day that had internet access to get some work done) I walked into the front desk to see if there were any vacancies. I was told there was a queen room available and the price was right. The place must have been recently redone. It is an old historic building, but everything is modern, well decorated and clean. I will certainly stay there the next time I am in Charleston. Free Breakfast on the rooftop, and not just for early birds. They serve until 10:00 AM. This is in the heart of the tourist area. You could walk to anywhere.

Room was very clean, heat worked well, considering the very chilly weather. front desk was very helpful in suggesting restaurants & tours. really enjoyed Mistral restaurant in the Market area. Definately would recommend to others
