We were delighted by our recent stay at the Harbourview Inn. It's location is superb (the Cooper River is across the street), the rooms were an excellent value, but what most impressed us was the B&B quality of the "hotel", including wine and cheese served in the lounge at 5 pm (where we had a terrific time chatting with some other guests), breakfast delivered to your room if you choose (at no extra charge), cookies and milk served in the evening, coffee and tea (and M&Ms) available at all times, and a staff that could not have been warmer or more helpful. An added bonus was that one of the restaurants for which we'd made reservations based on recommendations and reviews, Blossom, was about 2 blocks away.

Room Tip: Our room was right off the lounge where guests met for wine and cheese at 5 pm. So, if for some unkn...

I booked this hotel based upon the favorable reviews I found and was certainly not disappointed. If you are going to Charleston and want to stay downtown in the heart of things, this is a perfect site. The room was spacious, clean, and comfortable. A continental type breakfast is included and is delivered to the room at no extra charge. The wireless internet is free and fast. Great restaurants are withing easy walking distance, as is the waterfront.

My honey and I stayed two nights in a Penthouse room on the 4th floor. Everything at HarbourView Inn is first class from my first phone call to make a reservation till when we checked out. I called the hotel directly late one night and talked with Madison at the front desk. She offered me the best rate that was available and I prayed for an upgrade based on availability. My prayer was answered when we arrived. First impressions are important and Madison’s effective people skills got our stay off to great start.

I picked the HarbourView Inn based on its excellent downtown location and the high ratings in Trip Advisor. Our Penthouse room was efficiently sized with every inch well done from the fireplace to the high quality king size bed to the Jacuzzi tub. The view from our balcony was breathtaking and I loved the metal high backed stools to admire the Charleston Bay.

The best part of the hotel are the extra services that start with an in-room hosted refrigerator with soft drinks, bottled water, and Perrier. Coffee and tea and M and M’s are available all day, wine and cheese is served at 5:00pm, hot cookies are in the lobby at 9:00pm, and the Portside Breakfast is delivered directly to your room. The wifi is included and has excellent reception. The only extra is the valet parking because of the limited space available.

Overall the HarbourView Inn is a dandy place to stay, with a superior location, great amenities, and wonderful staff from the front desk to housekeeping. The cost is a bargain with all of the included extras!

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the front of the hotel that overlook the water. The best locations are 401-403, 30...

I really have to agree with the positive reviews for the Harbourview. It's a great place in a great location in Old Town Charleston. The room has a perfect view of the Cooper River, Ravenel Bridge and the public fountain the kids love to play in. In the morning, I could step out the front entrance and walk across the quiet street to the riverfront park for a walk to the Battery. The room furniture is hand-built by a local craftsman and is a joy. The huge king-size bed is a historic posterbed style with a modern Tempur-pedic mattress - it's wonderful. The staff is NOT stressed out and seems happy and friendly as can be. It would be great if the price were a bit less, but, hey, this is 2011 in the USA. Breakfast choices are superb and if requested, delivered to your room right on time. Of course, we'll stay there again.

Conveniently located in the French Quarter. Within easy walking distance to the Market, The Battery and many galleries on Broad and Queen Street areas. Tons of great restaurants within a short walk. Shopping on and around King only about a 10 minute walk. We enjoyed our Penthouse Room. These are rooms on the penthouse level. Most face the Cooper River/Harbour. with a lovely view of the fountain at the Waterfront Park. We enjoyed breakfast on our balcony or on the rooftop patio watching the early morning activity including dophins swimming in the river. Continental breakfast was good. Would have enjoyed a little more creativity and variety. Only complaint was that we felt the carpet in our room looked a bit "tired". Other than that the room was very clean. We read a lot of good reviews about the concierge staff however our experience was not quite so wonderful. They were helpful but just adequate. Concierge staff are usually enthusiastic and excited about their suggestions. We felt they had good recommendations but didn't seem to care as much as other guests' reviews showed. Could be because they were not dedicated concierge. They also had the responsibility of handling the front desk.

I can't say enough good things about the Harbourview Inn in Charleston, SC. First of all the staff was amazing. Everyone there treated you like family. It really felt like a Bed and Breakfast but with all the amenities you could want. We had breakfast delivered to our room but could have had it on the Terrace. We had the best croissants I have ever tasted with fruit and coffee. There was wine and cheese in the afternoon and warm cookies and milk by the fireplace in the evening. The beds were awesome and the rooms were large. We had room 205 and 206 and had a view of the harbor and fountain. It was walking distance to almost everything especially the city market and restaurants. I would highly recommend this hotel.
