“Great Place for Souvenirs”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 August 2014

Loved browsing the local artisans here, and it also gave me a chance to pick up postcards, a Lowcountry cuisine cookbook, water bottles for my dehydrated group, and some very Southern scarves all in one visit. Perfect for the out-of-town tourist, like me! A very attractive building as well, and located close to many of the carriage ride stations.

“great open air market”

good combination of local artists and not too much tourist "stuff." enjoyed walking through each building and getting a glimpse of Charleston goods/life.

“Mixed bag of local culture and flea market vendors”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 August 2014

We spent an hour or so strolling through the city market. It was clean and well maintained. As other reviewers have stated, the vendors were helpful but not pushy. Locally made pottery and sweet grass baskets are pricey but reflect the significant time and talent invested and support local artists. Local cookbooks, low country specialty items and Gullah-created crafts were terrific. Interspersed were lots of typical flea market vendors with reasonably-priced tshirts, souvenirs, etc.

“Shopping pleasure”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 August 2014

A must for all shoppers. The market is clean and well kept and there are many merchants there with a variety of merchandise. The prices are reasonable and even if you just want to browse none of the vendors were pushy!

“Pass this one up”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 August 2014

This market is a series of open buildings with vendors. I had high hopes for heritage crafts and local products, and there were some of both - HOWEVER - to find them you had to wade past the vast majority of vendors selling things you can find in any flea market.

The highlight was the spice vendor - I enjoyed my conversation with her, and the rice mix I bought was delicious. There were also some sweetgrass basket vendors that looked like they had some nice items.
