It is an Awesome way to spend an afternoon, a ferry ride and a guided tour of the fort and then time just to wonder around the fort, Awesome for pictures, great gift shop and Park Rangers were Great. They took time to answer questions and it was a great day spent by the family

You park in the Aquarium garage and take a short hike over to the Fort Sumter area at the dock. After paying there is one floor level of excellent, displays, photos and artifacts that discuss the fort, the period of times involved, and of course the slave trade. We rode a comfortable ferry out to the fort that included informative narration and explanation of what you see on the way out. Fort Sumter was humbling, historic, and rather breathtaking knowing that this was the start of the Civil War. The batteries, cannonade, and damage from artillery impact. The first ferry out, we got to see the Flag raising ceremony and that was pretty special. The entire experience took maybe two hours and was completely worth the price of admission.

The tour of the fort was worth the time spent visiting. However, the ferry ride is very time consuming. I wish we had known to pick up the ferry in Charleston, instead of Mt. Pleasant. We would have saved an hour waiting to drop off and pick up passengers.

We did not stop for the ranger tour but did wonder the area on our own. Both the ferry over from Patriot's Point and the time at Fort Sumter were worht theprice of the ticket.
