We stayed in a Junior king suite with gas fireplace, separate living room, and marble tub with jets (not a two person jacuzzi). The room was at ground level on the actual corner of a city intersection which provided great light and people watching but remained relatively quiet. Lots of cool amenities like included full breakfast, afternoon wine and cheese, free bike usage and a decanter of sherry in the room. Staff was friendly and helpful. Location was within walking distance of many tourist destinations. Would most definitely stay again when in Charleston.

My wife and I were married in Charleston in 2006 and this was our first trip back. Most of our guests stayed at the Vendue for the wedding so we decided to stay there this time. Now I can see why everyone loved it. The staff is incredibly attentive from the moment you check in, and very helpful with suggestions for dinner and activities. And as others have mentioned, the breakfast is awesome, cooked to order, and a nice included bonus. My favorite thing about the Vendue Inn is the rooftop bar, because there's only a few of these in the city and they have amazing views up there. The free bikes were great to use, even though my chain popped offf a few times and I had to get a little dirty. Yes, there was a bit of a funky smell in our room, and it took a phone call to figure out how to operate the shower, but I also realize that not everything can be perfect.
We looked at a lot of properties when trying to find hotels for the wedding, and this one definitely offered the best combination of charm and service. Hopefully we won't have to wait another 5 years to stay there!

This was the first trip to Charleston for myself and my wife. The Vendue Inn was great. The staff was amazing, great full service breakfast in the morning included, wine and snacks from 4-5pm everyday for hotel guests and milk and cookies every night at 9. The hotel was very clean and staff was very knowledgeable about the area and places to go and eat. Free bike rentals were a nice touch, but walking is almost easier unless you are going fairly far. Perfect location downtown within walking distance to everything you could want to do. Waterfront park, the battery, restaurants, market, shops, etc. Rooftop bar was also great, with a small view of the water. Happy hour from 5-8 was great with good prices on beers and mixed drinks. Will definitely be back within the next year. If you like a good quality drink try The Gin Joint just around the corner, a little pricey, but well worth it. Also a suprisingly great lunch at The Griffin just next door to 24 Vendue, which is where we stayed across from the main building.

Room Tip: Room 152 was below ground level in 24 Vendue(across from main building) and had a lot of walking traffic that could see in room when shades were open.

Enjoyed a wonderful stay to the return of my birthplace, made all the more enjoyable by the excellent and attentive service provided by all at the Inn, from the bellhop to check-in to concierge to breakfast servers to the room attendants to the night and day managers on duty. All were very professional, polite, and service focused. Never a hesitation to respond to our requests or questions and perform their actions on a timely basis. The little amentities like the evening cookies and milk, the daily manager's reception, and the absolutely delicious breakfasts made our stay memorable. Also, the added touch of acknolweging my birthday in a special way was very much appreciated. We have stayed in many small boutique hotels in Europe and the Vendue Inn was a wonderful reminder of that style of small friendly hotels!

Room Tip: Ask for an upper floor room facing the main street, Vendue Range!

This hotel is in an ideal location right by the water and is full of charm. Bicycles are free for guest and we had a blast riding around Charleston and taking in all the beauty. The room was also very pretty and the breakfast delicious.

Room Tip: We booked through Expedia, but you may find a better deal dealing direct with the hotel.
